The Atlanta Falcons came into the draft with eleven picks. I was positive that we would not take eleven players in this draft and it turns out that due to trading up twice we only chose eight players. Football Perspective took a look at every draft day trade and here is what they had to say about the Falcons two trades (click on the links for a more detailed analysis)... St. Louis traded the 22nd and 2015 7th rounder to Atlanta for the 30th, 92nd, and 198th picks Winner: St. Louis lost a lot of value in moving up to get Austin, but did a great job recouping draft capital in this deal. The Rams selected linebacker Alec Ogletree at 30, another strong player who would have made sense for the team at 22.   Chicago traded pick 153 to Atlanta to Atlanta for picks 163 and 236 Winner: Atlanta, as they gave up little to move up 10 spots for the player they wanted.  Both charts thought the Bears didn’t get much back. One footnote worth reading: With that throwaway seventh round pick from Atlanta, Chicago drafted Washington State wide receiver Marquess Wilson, a potential steal. Wilson feuded with new head coach Mike Leach in 2012 and eventually left the team, but he caught 82 passes for 1,388 yards and 12 scores as a sophomore in 2011. Ultimately, we won't know who "won" these trades until these players get on the field and actually play a sport called football but it's an interesting read nonetheless.
