In light of Tuesday’s story from ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli about former Bengals tackle Willie Anderson plotting a comeback after sitting out last year, some have wondered if there was a possibility of the former Bengal returning to Cincinnati, where he played for 12 of his 13 seasons in the league.
So I figured I would ask the man himself. Said Anderson during a Wednesday night conversation via phone from Atlanta about playing for the Bengals again: “I don’t know. I don’t think they want me back but they don’t necessarily need me back. They continue to build for the future and most times teams that are in contention do not add a veteran unless there is a serious need.”
Anderson, who still owns a Fatburger franchise in Cincinnati, still has a lot of friends on the Bengals and stays in contact with coach Marvin Lewis. In fact, Lewis was one of the first that Anderson told about his decision to come back. Anderson also said that he does not e...
