Anderson-Bengals reunion not likely

In light of Tuesday’s story from ESPN.com’s Len Pasquarelli about former Bengals tackle Willie Anderson plotting a comeback after sitting out last year, some have wondered if there was a possibility of the former Bengal returning to Cincinnati, where he played for 12 of his 13 seasons in the league. So I figured I would ask the man himself. Said Anderson during a Wednesday night conversation via phone from Atlanta about playing for the Bengals again: “I don’t know. I don’t think they want me back but they don’t necessarily need me back. They continue to build for the future and most times teams that are in contention do not add a veteran unless there is a serious need.” Anderson, who still owns a Fatburger franchise in Cincinnati, still has a lot of friends on the Bengals and stays in contact with coach Marvin Lewis.
