The Houston Texans aren’t used to playing in big games. So with a Monday night matchup with the Patriots in Foxboro looming, you could imagine the Texans are pretty jacked up for the primetime showdown.
Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson is leading that charge, especially as someone who has been a part of the Houston franchise for a long time. The 10-year veteran says that he’s never played in a bigger game as a member of the club.
“It’s big,” Johnson said, according to CSNHouston.com. “You know how big it is, biggest game in the history of this franchise. It’ll be a big test for us and we’ll be ready to go.”
The Texans did play in the playoffs last season making that proclamation a little peculiar, but the Texans do come in as the owners of the AFC’s best record, looking to solidify themselves as the best team in the conference. To do that, though, they know they must go through the Patriots.
“I think as long as we keep winning, every game is going to get bigger and bigger,” Johnson

(Eds: Adds details; quotes. With AP Photos.) By KRISTIE RIEKEN AP Sports Writer Andre Johnson sometimes has to tell his teammates how lucky they are to be on one of the NFL's best teams.
For years, Johnson languished on terrible Texans teams. Now, the star receiver shares stories of the tough times, a reminder to appreciate this season and keep working for more.
Houston Texans nose tackle Shaun Cody had an idea. He thought it would be pretty cool for the team to rock letterman jackets like high school varsity football players do.
So he recuited OLB Conner Barwin , and he worked with the equipment manager to make it happen.
"I used to say before the season it feels like we're on a college team," Barwin said, via the Houston...
The entire Houston Texans team received varsity-style letterman jackets Friday, just in time for their trip to New England for Monday night's game against the Patriots.
We had our doubts as to why an NFL team would want such jackets, until we saw the photo of linebacker Conor Barwin and defensive end Antonio Smith wearing them. We must say: they do look awesome.

The Boston Herald was reviewing their transcripts from an interview with Houston Texans safety Danieal Manning when they found this quote from him about beating Tom Brady:“I’m 2-1 with Brady,” Manning said. “Beaten him twice and lost once to him in Chicago. It was a real cold, snowy day and they came with it, they balled out on us.” Manning played for the Chicago Bears...

Pro Football Weekly reports NT Shaun Cody is “unlikely to be with the Texans in 2013.”
PFW notes that Earl Mitchell has played well enough with Cody out of the lineup that he could afford Houston the ability to move on without the veteran nose tackle.
Cody, 29, will be a free agent at the end of the season, but it seems likely that the Texans will consider drafting a replacement...
James Harden attended the grand opening of the upscale driving range (complete with a bar and restaurant), Top Golf Houston, earlier this week alongside Houston Texans’ T.J. Yates and Brooks Reed:
With a two-game lead on the rest of the AFC, the Houston Texans could go a long way toward proving they're the team to beat this week.
The New England Patriots, though, certainly aren't ready to concede the conference they've represented in the Super Bowl five times in the last 11 years.
These powers each bring a six-game winning streak into Monday night's showdown...
