Another new wrinkle, Week 1 picks, straight and spread

I don't know if this is evolution or just a compulsion to add agony to blogging. For the first time, I'm going to share picks on the blog. That's not a real big deal, since my picks are in the newspaper each Colts Weekend section (typically on Fridays before Sunday games). The difference is, at least for me, I'm going to pick against the spread, too. I haven't done too much of that over the years. I know it's more difficult. Forgive if I embarrass myself. Maybe it's being refreshed over a new season. Perhaps it's blog buffet servings on Wednesday and Thursday. Or then again, it likely has something to do with a recent party I attended. I met a couple new friends who said, "Just picking the winners is easy! You've gotta pick against the spread!" They have been doing it for years, just for fun, not for gambling purposes to make money. After a week to think about it, I'm thinking why not? Not saying every blog reader should care eit...
