Comments on the Buffalo Bills by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
BUFFALO BILLS (19)
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 12): NFL's longest active playoff drought (12 seasons and counting) is set to end thanks to defensive upgrades led by free-agent signing of pass-rushing beast Mario Williams and hiring of Dave Wannstedt as coordinator.
Chris Berman (ESPN, 14): Most excitement in Western New York in offseason in years.
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 14): Bills make playoffs if they avoid the injury bug.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 17): Really like team's offseason moves, but Ryan Fitzpatrick needs to be more consistent.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 17): Great offseason puts Bills in situation to rush passer without blitzing. As long as Fred Jackson is healthy they will be playoff contenders.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 19): Big offseason moves, but still must beat New England.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 20): Hope springs eternal after strong offseason led by signing of Mario Williams. Key to Bills' success is play of QB Ryan Fitzpatrick. Is he guy who cashed in after strong first half of 2011 or guy who struggled mightily in second half?
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 21): Could be dominant defensive line with Mario Williams, Kyle Williams, and Marcell Dareus.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 21): Bills now have pass rush in free-agent signees Mario Williams and Mark Anderson.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 23): Addition of Mario Williams keeps hope alive in Western New York.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 24): Buffalo opened the vault for Mario Williams, but New England still owns AFC East.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 25): Mario Williams can make a lot of players around him more effective, and he will need to in Buffalo.

Sal Maiorana published an article yesterday that confirms something we’ve suspected for a while now: that Terrence McGee may be on the outside looking for a roster spot on the Buffalo Bills.
It may seem strange that in a cornerback group dominated by rookies and NFL sophomores, the player with the most extensive experience and resume of solid play could be the odd man out. However...
Bills training camp is now in its second week and there have been some heartening sights for fans hoping that Buffalo is as good as the hype machine has them on paper.
The defense has been staggering so far, vastly outshining the offense, who are progressing well, but look like the junior varsity against the first-string defenders.
The rebuilt and much vaunted line has been rampaging...
Buffalo Bills starting middle linebacker Kelvin Sheppard missed practice due to what coach Chan Gailey would only call a medical issue.
Without revealing what the issue is, Gailey on Wednesday said he expects Sheppard to miss a couple of days of training camp. Sheppard watched the team's night practice from the sideline.
Starting defensive tackle Marcell Dareus was held out...
Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick is the first to acknowledge he still faces questions about his consistency and mechanics.
The rest of the qualities it takes to play the position - poise, toughness, respect and confidence - the Buffalo Bills starter has down pat, his teammates say. From the ability to take a big hit and play hurt, as he did overcoming a severe chest injury...
Eric Wood, the Buffalo Bills’ starting center has yet to participate in the team’s training camp due to rehabilitation from a season-ending knee injury suffered last year. With Wood out of the fold, guard Kraig Urbik is taking the first team reps at center, with Chad Rinehart holding down the right guard position.
The Bills used their 28th overall pick of the 2009 NFL Draft to...
Buffalo Bills cornerback Terrence McGee knows that he’s going to have to fight for a roster spot this summer. He told Sal Maiorana of the Democrat & Chronicle that there are a lot of guys ahead of him right now.
“I’m at the back of the line right now,” McGee said, via ”There are guys way in front of me right now.”
“That’s one of my worries right...
Buffalo Bills right guard Kraig Urbik has changed agents, going from Peter Schaffer of Authentic Athletix to David Dunn and Joe Panos of Athletes First. Panos is a former offensive lineman who was director of football operations for Lock Metz Malinovic Sports Management until he recently switched to Athletes First. Many agencies were reportedly making a play to add Panos...
Remember when your older brother used to pick on you and beat you in just about everything? Then you would say “just wait til I get older”? That has been the relationship between the Buffalo Bills and the New England Patriots for the last decade. But guess what Boston fans, little brother has gotten a little older.
The Bills are facing their highest expectations in years, and...
Hard to believe, but with training camps having begun and August already here, the 2012 NFL season is mercifully at our doorstep. That means fewer ‘Stephen Strasburg is going to get shut down’ stories and more ‘HOLY CRAP, TIM TEBOW IS SHIRTLESS IN THE RAIN!!!’ stories. Thank. God.
Even better, the 2012 NFL pre-season arrives with no lockout-related...

With the allegations coming to light against the New Orleans Saints and the eventual suspensions, some thought the Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins might face sanctions because of Gregg Williams coaching...

When the Bills announced their new general manager with three games remaining in the 2009 season, I was left scratching my head. Not because I thought it was a bad move, but merely because I had no idea who Buddy Nix was.
I consider myself to be a sports aficionado, and can designate countless sports personalities to their professions. But, for some reason...
