Comments on the Oakland Raiders by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
OAKLAND RAIDERS (23, TIE)
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 17): It will be interesting to see what Carson Palmer can do over whole season in Oakland.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 19): Carson Palmer had offseason to learn about offense and teammates, knowing, of course, he can always hand off to Darren McFadden. A little dose of defense, and Raiders can contend for playoff spot.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 20): New GM Reggie McKenzie has brought new attitude. Let's see if it finally translates into winning season.
Chris Berman (ESPN, 21): Everything is new for Silver & Black; anything is possible in this division.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 23): I believe the Raiders found winner in new head coach Dennis Allen. RB Darren McFadden's return helps, but so much rests on QB Carson Palmer's play. Is he Pro Bowler we saw early in career in Cincy or guy who threw 16 picks in 10 games as a Raider last year?
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 24): More discipline equals more wins with Dennis Allen - eventually! Headed in right direction.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 25): Darren McFadden is superstar and Carson Palmer has time to learn new offense.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 25): Raiders haven't had a winning season since 2002 and had roster purge this spring to get under salary cap. At least nine players who contributed significant playing time last season are gone.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 26): Not sure if Darren McFadden can stay healthy. Not sure if Carson Palmer is QB he used to be.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 26): It's all up to Darren McFadden, but he's injury waiting to happen.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 26): First full season post-Al Davis may be rough one with Raiders unable to upgrade roster much because of salary-cap restraints.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 29): Late Al Davis wouldn't recognize this overhauled roster.

As seen on Bleacher Report.
Owner Mark Davis and general manager Reggie McKenzie were in Napa, Calif. to watch the first practice under new head coach Dennis Allen. The new era of Raiders football got underway on a beautiful sunny day in wine country and finished on a positive note for the defense when rookie defensive tackle Christo Bilukidi picked off a Terrelle Pryor screen pass...
What’s up RaiderNation? In case you hadn’t heard by now, Juron Criner has signed a four year contract with the Oakland Raiders. Apparently there was some disagreement over $14,000 which Criner’s agent felt he should have gotten to be in line with previous draft picks. But since Criner was chosen with a supplemental pick, the [...]
On the second day of the 2012 Oakland Raiders training camp, quarterback Carson Palmer is adapting well to the demands of the new offensive system that includes the ability to move inside and outside of the pocket to deliver throws. The benefit of a full offseason is showing what he is capable of this season.
“I think he’s doing exceptional,” Raiders head coach Dennis...
Raiders quarterback Carson Palmer lofted a tight spiral deep down the right sideline and appeared to have an easy completion to Darrius Heyward-Bey before cornerback DeMarcus Van **** came in to break up the pass and knock the receiver to the ground.
A day earlier, Van **** spent much of the morning jamming receivers at the line of scrimmage.
It's all part of Van ****'s...
(Eds: Updates with reaction, details. With AP Photos.) By JOSH DUBOW AP Sports Writer In an offseason full of changes for the Oakland Raiders, perhaps the most positive development has been the health of a returning star.
Running back Darren McFadden has opened training camp the way he looked in offseason workouts, showing the speed and ability that has made him one of the NFL&...
Steve Wisniewski, the former Oakland Raiders great and eight time pro-bowler tendered his official resignation last week as assistant offensive line coach.
It turns out the Raiders players knew it was coming weeks ago thanks to a text message from "The Wiz." The Raiders announced that Wisniewski's position won't be filled this season and new offensive line...
Rookie defensive end Jack Crawford is just trying to find a way to make the 53-man roster and took a huge step toward doing just that Wednesday by spending a great deal of time in the backfield, frustrating offensive linemen and harassing the quarterback. Defensive players are prohibited from touching quarterbacks in practice. However, its safe to say that Crawford would have sacked...
Every game this season for the Oakland Raiders is important, but there are at least five games that will have a major impact on the course of the season for the Oakland Raiders. These are the top five games for the Oakland Raiders that will have the most meaning to this football club in 2012. [...]
Former first-round selection (fourth overall in the 2005 NFL Draft out of the University of Texas) and free agent running back Cedric Benson has been linked as a highly likely option this offseason for the Oakland Raiders.
While there are plenty of potential positives in a possible deal, it’s time to take a gander at the other side of the argument.

According to Steve Corkran of the Contra Costa Times, Oakland Raiders running back Darrn McFadden looks really good during Monday’s practice.
Darren McFadden looks good. Real good.

This is a great sign since McFadden was lost for the season in 2011 with a foot injury.
The Raiders are looking for complementary running backs to emerge in training camp and the preseason as they try to fill the void left by Michael Bushs departure in free agency. Oakland did not sign any notable running backs in free agency and did not use a pick on a back in the draft, leaving starter Darren McFadden without a bruising rusher to back him up for the first time in...

From the fast-paced practice that ran 21/2 hours to an emphasis on being on time to meetings to mandatory check-ins for meals, it's clear there's a new regime in charge of the Oakland Raiders at the start of training camp.
After years of being plagued by a lack of discipline on and off the field, general manager Reggie McKenzie and coach Dennis Allen are putting their own...
