Comments on the New Orleans Saints by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses): NEW ORLEANS SAINTS (9) Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 4): Saints may have $100 million QB (Drew Brees), but it remains to be seen how much play-caller (Sean Payton) will be missed. Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 7): Yes, bounty scandal will be hard to overcome, but Drew Brees won't let Saints fall that far. Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 7): Despite all the turmoil, this team won 13 games year ago and still has one of NFL's elite QBs in Drew Brees. Saints will miss Sean Payton, however. Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 8): As a team I'd rank them higher, but no head coach and suspended players push them down to this spot. However, don't be surprised if they are there at the end. John Lynch (Fox Sports, 9): Bounty scandal and resulting suspensions take Saints from top five to ninth. Drew Brees keeps them in top 10. Bob Glauber (Newsday, 9): Can't remember more tumultuous offseason for any franchise. Now Saints attempt to put bounty scandal behind them, task made easier with Drew Brees' long-term contract extension. Chris Berman (ESPN, 9): Brees is 70 percent passer even with me coaching. Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 10): Drew Brees so good he overcomes mess with Saints. Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 12): Despite the turmoil the Saints still could make the playoffs. Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 15): Still have talent, but loss of head coach too much to overcome. Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 16): Absence of Sean Payton and Carl Nicks cripples record-setting attack. Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 18): Signing of Drew Brees to long-term contract extension is one of few good-news items this offseason for team that entered training camp covered by dark cloud from bounty scandal. --- Online: http://bigstory.ap.org/NFL-Pro32 and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL

Drew Brees Buys Everyone at Saints Camp a Snoball

Drew Brees offseason contract dispute with the Saints hasn't dampened his desire to be a good teammate, or to take care of his team's fans who have been braving the heat and rain to come out to Saints training camp. On Saturday fans were treated to free Plum Street Snoballs as Brees had arranged for a truck to come to practice. "It was funny because a few days before...

Grubbs hungry to fit in on elite Saints offense

Ben Grubbs says that when he ventured into free agency, New Orleans seemed like the right fit personally and professionally. Grubbs grew up in Alabama and played at Auburn, and when All-Pro left guard Carl Nicks left New Orleans during same offseason in which Grubbs became a free agent, the opportunity to return to the South and join a record-setting offense presented itself. Grubbs...

Injuries giving Saints reserve CBs more looks

Jabari Greer has a pulled groin that limited him during Tuesday's practice and left the Saints without either of their first-team cornerbacks on the field. Cornerback Patick Robinson, who hurt his shoulder Sunday afternoon, has not yet returned, and assistant head coach Joe Vitt says he could be sidelined a couple more days The injuries, which appear minor, mean more work with...

Drew Brees On Roger Goodell: “Nobody Trusts Him”

We aren’t going to think that Drew Brees’ feelings towards NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has anything to do with the penalties the Saints faced or Head Coach Sean Payton’s suspension, this has to be rational. Right? Peter King with Sports Illustrated recently sat down Drew Brees and Brees’ did not disappoint. “Nobody trusts him. Nobody trusts him. I’m not talking...

Darren Sproles Takes The Corner

Catch me if you can Juan… Lots of worries in fantasy circles about the state of the Saints offense in 2012. Color me not concerned. Pete Carmichael knows whats up with this offense and Drew Brees is a surgeon. Darren Sproles role will not change and he should be in line for plenty of receptions once again. Due to Bountygate, New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is currently not with the team for the start of training camp. However, it looks like the Saints found a solid remedy for that by putting up a huge photo of Payton in the Saints practice facility: (Courtesy of Gulf Live)

Roaf's road to HOF paved by 13 years of honors

Willie Roaf might have missed out on a whopping 11 Pro Bowls had he been 2 inches taller. Fortunately for the New Orleans Saints and Kansas City Chiefs, Roaf, who loves basketball and says he can still dunk at age 42, stopped growing when he was 6-foot-5. Roaf says if he had been 6-7, he probably would have kept playing basketball in college, but instead took one of only two scholarship...

Call us Juan… The Saints Cheerleaders went marching in to camp with their Drew Brees jerseys to show their goods. I’m not sure they have anything on the Cowboys’ girls.  You decide. Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Brees Signs A Jimmy John Sub

Everybody Knows: Saints Coaching Void Talk Is Tiresome

Rejoice fans! The NFL season is upon us.  Soon the soap opera that is the off-season will give way to the drama of a brand spanking new NFL season.  Before our weekly NFL joy returns, the pre-season monster must be fed.  Every nod of Robert Griffin III’s head must be dissected and disseminated to the Washington faithful, while every report out of Cleveland must remind fans...

Saints focused on mastering Spagnuolo's scheme

With most of the roster set, Saints interim head coach Joe Vitt decided to move practices to the mornings, in part to make sure the team is getting in full sessions. It's back to more of the normal training camp routine after it made more sense to have afternoon practices last year with so much turnover following the end of the lockout and quick start to camp. "This...

Saints sign Daniels, waive Parks

Defensive tackle Alex Daniels was signed by the Saints, who waived cornerback Cord Parks. Daniels entered the NFL as an undrafted rookie out of Cincinnati in 2010, signing with Oakland. He has spent time on the practice squads of the Cowboys and Giants, who worked him at fullback.
