A person familiar with the deal says the New York Jets have signed offensive lineman Oday Aboushi, the team's fifth-round draft pick, to a four-year contract.
The signing Friday comes a day after the Jets agreed to terms on four-year deals with two other draft picks: offensive lineman Brian Winters and fullback Tommy Bohanon. The person spoke to The Associated Press about Aboushi's deal on condition of anonymity because the team hadn't announced the contract.
Aboushi, a Staten Island native, was a standout at the University of Virginia after starring at Brooklyn's Xaverian High School. The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Aboushi will work at left and right tackle, as well as potentially guard to add depth to the offensive line.
The Jets opened rookie minicamp on Friday.
BEST OF MAXIM
The congratulatory messages flooded Oday Aboushi's Twitter page for a few days after he was drafted by the New York Jets two weeks ago.
Many were happy to see the hometown kid from the New York borough of Staten Island starting his NFL career close to his family and friends. It was the other tweets, first dozens and then hundreds, from places such as Dubai and Saudi Arabia that...

ROC NATION RECRUITING
Geno Smith recently fired his agents after dropping in the draft and now Jay-Z and his Roc Nation agency reportedly have set their sights on the Jets draft pick.
The New York Jets have agreed to terms on four-year deals with two of their seven draft picks: offensive lineman Brian Winters and fullback Tommy Bohanon.
Winters' agent Joel Segal confirmed the agreement Thursday night, but declined to give financial details. The deal is believed to be for close to $3 million.
Winters, a third-rounder out of Kent State, is expected to compete...
The day and age of the religiously praised former 1st round pick, Tim Tebow, had quickly come to an end in the National Football League. After being cut by the Jets, none of the remaining 31 teams have shown any interest in the former first round pick. No offers from any teams to officially be welcomed to training camp, to see if he can still be a quality backup? Ouch. The part...
Geno Smith is in image repair mode right now, and part of that is showing football people that he is a hard worker and a leader.
Smith had his first minicamp practice as the Jets quarterback yesterday, and wanted to let people he was working hard. Geno seems to have a fan in Jets head coach Rex Ryan.
Smith was asked about reports regarding Smith being a diva, and according to Pro...
Since Jets’ receiver Santonio Holmes can’t play yet, it seems he has taken it upon himself to decide who will be the starting quarterback this year.
According to Conner Orr of the Star-Ledger, this is what Holmes had to say.
On the quarterback competition: “Right now, it’s Sanchez and that’s who we’re going with and we’re going to continue on this road until time permits...
Entering the NFL Draft, there was little argument that University of Alabama produce Dee Milliner was the best cornerback available. However, there were injury questions surrounding Milliner considering he underwent five surgeries during his time with the Tide. While others expressed concerns, Milliner isn't worried, as he told ESPN New York that the procedures were "minor...
Even when the New York Jets aren’t trying to attract the ridiculous headlines, they do.
According to story via NBC New York, today a bank robber hit five Manhattan banks in the span of an hour while wearing a none other than a Jets jersey.
The robber began his spree just before 1 p.m., at a Chase bank on Broadway on the Upper West Side. About 20 minutes later, he hit another...
If you're an NFL fan, you typically fall into one of two classifications: those who are for Tim Tebow and those against him.
It's quite obvious where a certain sect of Jaguars fans stand.
The Bold City Brigade, a Jags booster club now in its second year, has started a website, Evenifhesreleased.com, to combat the swirling Tebow rumors, petitions, and PR campaigns.
With first year offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg attempting to change the complexion of a spotty offense, Jets' rookie Geno Smith is working diligently to take command of a West Coast style system.
Tim Tebow is still in search of an NFL job, and many have speculated that the New England Patriots would be a logical destination if he is willing to give up on playing quarterback. Bill Belichick is known for getting the most out of players and showcasing their versatility, so some have wondered if the Patriots could use Tebow as an H-back or tight end.
According to Michael Silver...
The New York Jets have enough problems this summer to concern themselves with on the field. Unfortunately, Rex Ryan might have to be on the lookout for more than just a starting quarterback. He might also be recruited to help New York police stop a serial bank robber.
An unknown person took to Manhattan on Friday for an afternoon crime spree, according to authorities, hitting...
