A person familiar with the negotiations says the Houston Texans have agreed to contract extensions for both general manager Rick Smith and coach Gary Kubiak, The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity Thursday because the team had not yet announced the deals. A formal announcement, including details, was expected later Thursday. Smith and Kubiak are in the last years of their current contract. Team owner Bob McNair said last month that he wanted to extend the contracts of the pair after the team finished 10-6 to win its first AFC South title and make the playoffs for the first time.
