Every once in a while, we have teams that seem to implode once they're eliminated from the playoff race. Those types of implosions raise questions about the team's intent, but they ultimately fade away once the playoffs begin.
Now, the Dolphins are causing some, including players on their own team, to question their motives in 2012.
Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that "a source with knowledge of the situation" is saying that some of the Dolphins' key players are "dismayed" by the Dolphins recent trade of Vontae Davis to the Indianapolis Colts. The source indicates that players are specifically wondering if the Dolphins are actually trying to put together a winning squad for the 2012 season.
The news out of Miami isn't surprising to anyone who's covered the Dolphins in any capacity during the Jeff Ireland years. As controversial as the trade was, I don't know if it warrants such internal criticism as a stand alone ...

The Miami Dolphins front office and coaching staff know that the team is not good enough right now to compete in 2012. The Dolphins coaches have watched the poor preseason performances we all have. The Dolphins roster, right now is simply not full of talent. For this reason, Jeff Ireland and his staff will be [...]
The Indianapolis Colts acquired former 1st round corner back Vontae Davis from the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.
I, like nearly everyone else, has been predicting that the Colts would make a move via trade to help shore up their secondary. This maybe wasn’t quite the move we had been expecting however.
The biggest thing Colts fans have to wonder: Is this the major upgrade the secondary...
The best part about sports reality TV shows like Hard Knocks, 24/7 or any other show like that is the almost unlimited access it provides. Sports fans are taken behind the scenes to see what goes on not only the playing field but also the practice field, film room, coach's office and even the general manager's office. On Tuesday's episode of Hard Knocks, football fans...
Vontae Davis couldn't wait to get started in Indianapolis.
After leaving rain-soaked Florida, the new Colts cornerback made it to town Monday and quickly told reporters he wanted to leave the past in Miami.
On Sunday, the Colts sent two draft picks, including a second-rounder in 2013, to Miami to acquire the four-year veteran. For Davis, it marks the end of a stormy time in...
If you are a Miami Dolphins fan, I’m going to throw out a statement that I’ll bet covers about 90% of our fan base at this point in the season, ready for it? HC Joe Philbin and GM Jeff Ireland are not atop your good list. Ok I said it, now are you ready to [...]
Earlier this week, the Dolphins sent Vontae Davis to the Colts for a 2nd and 6th round pick. However, according to the Palm Beach Post and confirmed on the recent episode of Hard Knocks, the Colts originally offered just a 5th and 6th round pick for Davis, before eventually being negotiated up to a 2nd and 6th round pick. Getting Davis for just a 5th and 6th round pick would have...
Colts’ owner Jim Irsay said on twitter recently that the team was going to make a big move, and they did just that by trading for Dolphins’ corner back Vontae Davis.
Davis had fallen out of favor with the Dolphins, and was acquired by the Colts for the price of a second round pick and a conditional sixth rounder.
The Colts badly needed to shore up their defense, and if Davis...
In the NFL, GMs value draft picks extremely highly.
Moreso, probably, than they should.
This past offseason, Asante Samuel was traded for a 7th round pick. Now, Samuel has his limitations, and is not a particularly strong tackler, but he’s one of the better corners in the league. Last season, only Darelle Revis had a better (lower) opposing quarterback passer rating when throwing...
As the Miami Dolphins are attempting to change their locker room culture under new head coach Joe Philbin, the team has traded former first-round draft pick Vontae Davis to the Indianapolis Colts for a 2013 second-round pick and a conditional, late round pick. Davis, the younger brother of 49ers tight end Vernon Davis, had lost [...]
This week’s episode of “Hard Knocks” was a vast improvement over the week before. Even if this season suffers for a lack of big personalities, the series is always able to tease quotes and tidbits out of players that we can use to make fun of them for the rest of the season, if not longer. And so it will be with Ryan Tannehill not knowing how the NFL divisions and conferences...
