Move over Patriots, there may be Super Bowl competition in a place where one wouldn’t have thought–Arrowhead. Ok, that was obviously hyperbole, but the fact remains that the Kansas City Chiefs could very well join the Patriots as favorites for the AFC conference title. I’ll admit it, initially I was skeptical too then after hearing whispers that the Chiefs were more than just a pushover is when I  gave in and thought ‘wow, they could really do something.’ So let’s look at some of the team’s weapons: Eric Winston, Tamba Hali, Eric Berry, Dwyane Bowe and Jamaal Charles. The team has what a lot of others are lacking–balance and harmony on both offense and defense. The only flaw with the Chiefs that’s keeping them from being mentioned as a team headed for a big year is the fact that Matt Cassel isn’t Tom Brady. But then again…who is? Matt Cassel is capable of being Mr. Reliable as he filled in for the aforementioned, Mr. Brady in 2008 and took the Patriots to an 11-5 season. But, with...

Tom Brady Says He Has 'A Lot of Confidence' in Offensive Line Despite Shaky Start Early in Season

The Patriots' offensive line had more than a few people scared coming out of Thursday's preseason game against the Saints. Players seemed to have trouble holding their own under pressure, a problem that had also crept up last year as opposing defenses found a way to get to quarterback Tom Brady. While much of the offseason talk has been about Brady and his many weapons at...

Kansas City Chiefs: Matt Cassel Has Much To Prove in 2012

Motivation can be achieved many ways. Sometimes a chip on the shoulder can provide the motivation that a player needs to have a fantastic season. When an organization shows a concern that they want a player to perform better, the media and public are usually standing in line to voice their concern as well. This brings pressure to the player to do just that.   This has to be the...

Tom Brady doesn’t care if there are replacement officials

AP Photo New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady told the Dennis and Callahan Show on WEEI in Boston vis that he really doesn’t care who’s officiating this season.  Whether it’s replacement officials or not, Brady knows he must do his job. “Whoever’s out there is out there. Preseason Game 1 Breakdown for Kansas City

The Chiefs played their first preseason game of 2012 on Friday night and suffice to say, they were as advertised. Questions about Peyton Hillis, Matt Cassel, and and the Kansas City defense were answered emphatically, leaving little doubt that the Chiefs should be the favorites in the AFC West heading into the regular season. Here are a [...]

Vote: Which Skills Player Is Most Important to Patriots Success This Season?

The success of the Patriots always seems to ride on the shoulders on Tom Brady and inside the mind of Bill Belichick. But while those two things along can typically prompt a playoff run for the team, accomplishing every teams' ultimate goal takes a lot more than an elite quarterback and a wily head coach. This season there are a number of moving parts for New England and with...

Cleveland Browns Face Different Struggles In 2012 Training Camp

After one preseason game, the Browns now know what kinds of things they need to work on as the regular season approaches. What they also now know is, some things may be out of their control to work on. Take, for instance, the curious case of Mohammad Massoquoi. Massoquoi took one hit in last Friday’s game, and promptly was removed from the game for precautionary reasons related...

No matter what his name is, Ochocinco doesn't deserve another shot

Tom Brady trying to explain a play to Chad Johnson He can change his name to Ochocinco, back to Johnson, and to anything that gets him attention, but Chad Johnson doesn't deserve another shot in the NFL.  His domestic violence arrest is despicable and he should face the consequences, but my reasoning has nothing to do with his alleged crime.  Johnson hasn't been a viable...

Shifting Alignments, A Shift In Results?

The NFL has long been a copycat league, and after watching the New York Giants trot out a star studded defensive line and smack around Tom Brady for the second time in five seasons, who could blame Buffalo’s General Manager Buddy Nix for trying to mold his team in their image.  We all know about the personnel upgrades the  Bills have made during the off-season, but catering your...
