The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in desperate need of many things this upcoming offseason due to injuries late this regular season and an aging defense.
Nose tackle Casey Hampton, who injured his knee in the wildcard loss to the Denver Broncos, has both his ailing knee and age against him. Hampton is 34, and probably doesn’t have much left in the tank after 11 years in the NFL. Other key contributors on defense that are in their 30s are linebacker James Harrison (33), and safeties Ryan Clark (32) and Troy Polamalu, who will be 31 in April.
On the offensive side of the ball, the focus should be on the offensive line. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was hobbled with injuries all season, which had a major effect on his mobility in the wildcard loss to Denver.
