I’ve been well put on the record here on the Pigskin Report in my beliefs that Kevin Kolb, despite playing for my beloved Alma mater at the University of Houston, is not a starting quarterback in this league. But after starting Sunday as an overpaid backup and finishing as an unsung hero, he has the chance to prove me, and many others, dead wrong.
After getting beat out for the starting role by second year quarterback John Skelton, Kolb looked from the sidelines as Skelton went down late in a close game with what appeared to be a severe ankle injury. After getting his number called and finding his helmet, Kolb ran onto the field to a smattering of boos from the home crowd and I, like most of them, were ready to call the game over as Arizona trailed Seattle halfway through the fourth.
But then something different than expected happened, as Kolb ran the no-huddle offense flawlessly down the field and tossed the go ahead touch down to Andre Roberts with under five minutes left to play...
