Extensions are always nice, especially when they are worth so much. The Arizona Cardinals and Calais Campbell agree on a 5-year $55 million, $31 million guaranteed, according to a league source on Friday.

The 6-foot-8, 300-pound lineman had 51 tackles and 22 assisted tackles last season. He also had eight sacks, two forced fumbles, 11 passes defended, one fumble recovery, his first interception and blocked three field goals. If you asked me those are pretty good numbers, and after the Cardinals missed out on key free agents this off-season, this is great news for Cardinal fans.

However, it sounds like the fans aren’t the only one excited, “I still have a long way to go, I’m 25, still a young guy, taking it one day at a time.”  said Campbell. He  is considered an integral part of a defense that emerged as the team’s strength as Arizona went 7-2 after stumbling to a 1-6 start last season. After what was easily his best NFL season, Campbell said he has plenty of room for improvement.

This is a great extension, but for who? I almost think this is to ease the mind of Cardinal fans, like I said the Cards missed out on key free agents this off-season. Campbell is a young guy, with a lot to prove, expect him to work hard and earn his money.

The Cardinals are sticking their necks out on this one with a $55 million contract and $31 guaranteed, I just hope they get what they put their money into.

Lindley adds intrigue to Cardinals' QB situation

TEMPE, Ariz. -- After just one day of rookie mini-camp, Cardinals quarterbacks coach John McNulty cant say how his team's sixth-round draft pick, quarterback Ryan Lindley, might project in the NFL. Draft Grades: Arizona Cardinals

This was a bold draft for the Arizona Cardinals, who acted more like a team on the verge of contention than one in rebuilding mode. It’s a fine strategy if Kevin Kolb works out, but if their quarterback situation remains a question mark, this could set them back. Michael Floyd was a luxury pick, but does give Larry Fitzgerald the support he needs. It also shifts Early Doucet back...
