Washington was Arizona’s leader in tackles last season and graded out as ProFootballFocus’ 10th ranked middle linebacker, grading out above average against the run, in coverage, and as a blitzer, adding 6 sacks, 5 quarterback hits, and 19 quarterback pressures. Heading into his 3rd year in the league, he has a good chance to make his first Pro Bowl in 2012. Washington, a 2010 2nd round pick, still had 2 years left on his rookie contract, but, with no players of note heading into contract years, the Cardinals decided to lock him up now. I’m not normally a fan of when teams give players a new deal after just 2 years in the league and they’re also overpaying him a little bit. He’s getting an extra 32 million of new money over an extra 4 years, though no word yet on the guaranteed money amount. Similar caliber players like Curtis Lofton, Stephen Tulloch, and David Hawthorne got 27.5 million, 25.5 million, and 19 million respectively over 5 years. In a passing league, non-rush linebacker...

Kolb saves Cardinals, gets 'poetic' redemption

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Adrian Wilson had an agenda when he reached the postgame podium Sunday at University of Phoenix Stadium. I want to talk about Kevin Kolb, Wilson said. Lets talk about how poetic that was. Those who watched the entirety of the Cardinals 20-16 victory over the Seahawks might have chosen a different term. But Kolbs relief effort in place of injured starter John...

Kolb leads Arizona to victory in relief duty

There's good news and bad news for Arizona Cardinals fans. On the bright side, the Cardinals got the win in their season opener against the Seahawks. On the down side, the Cardinals' quarterback situation is still up in the air. After John Skelton was put out the game with an injury, Kevin Kolb entered the game without any first team work this week. It didn'...

Andre Roberts Hauls in TD in Loss To Seattle

Cardinals receiver Andre Roberts was Arizona's leading rusher Sunday, taking one carry for 15 yards. He also caught five passes for 54 yards and a touchdown.Fantasy Spin:Roberts isn't much of a fantasy option but this should tell you how weak Arizona's running game is. Sit both Beanie Wells (7 carries-14 yards) and Ryan Williams (8-9) for now.

Larry Fitzgerald Fails To Impress vs. Seattle

Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald grabbed four balls for 63 yards Sunday.Fantasy Spin:John Skelton completed just two passes to Fitzgerald before exiting with an injury in the fourth quarter. Kevin Kolb took over and his first two completed passes were to Fitzgerald. Even if Skelton is healthy next week, we're on Team Kolb now. Just get Fitzgerald the ball!

Kolb comes off bench to lead Cardinals to victory

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Kevin Kolb lost his job and with it, probably a lot of confidence, too. But if he did, he didn't show it Sunday when he was pressed into action for the Arizona Cardinals. John Skelton, who beat out Kolb for the starting quarterback job despite making just $500,000 compared to the $20 million the Cardinals have already invested in Kolb in a little more than...

John Skelton Carted Off Field With Ankle Injury

Cardinals QB John Skelton was carted off the field in the fourth quarter Sunday with an ankle injury.Fantasy Spin:As far as fantasy owners are concerned, the best man for the QB job in Arizona is the one who can get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald on a consistent basis. That wasn't Skelton Sunday.

The Arizona Cardinals ‘Special’ secret weapon this season

The Arizona Cardinals have been picked by many experts to be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season.  Their basis is just, they say the Cardinals will struggle because of their long QB battle this offseason that resulted in John Skelton eventually beating out Kevin Kolb.  Now that the team has their [...]
