The Arizona Cardinals suffered a very disappointing 19-16 overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills yesterday at University of Phoenix Stadium. A win would have lifted the Red Birds into sole possession of first place in the NFC West – thanks to the Giants dominant victory over the 49ers. Arizona's Report Card for Week Six is in. Let's take a look:

Offense: D+

Despite some fine performances from Larry Fitzgerald (six receptions, 93 yards, 1 TD) and William Powell (13 carries for 70 yards), the Cardinals still only managed to score 16 points against a team that entered the game allowing 35 points a game. Not good. That fact was not lost on Fitzgerald.

"Across the board I think we were happy with the way we ran the football, " the All-Pro wide receiver said via NFL.com at the post-game press conference. "You know, it's just the points. We have to score more points."

They sure do. Fitzgerald has now topped 10,000 career receiving yards, joining Randy Moss as the only two wide receivers in NFL history to top that mark under the age of 30. Kevin Kolb (14-26, 128 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) was sacked five more times – the last time it forced him out of the game late in the fourth quarter with a rib injury. He'll have an MRI today.

John Skelton, who had not played since Week One due to an ankle injury, showed a great deal of rust by going just 2 for 10 for 45 yards and a very poorly thrown ball that was intercepted in overtime by Buffalo's Jarius Byrd to set up Rian Lindell's game-winning field goal. Kolb gained 66 yards on five scrambles but LaRod Stephens-Howling disappointed with just 22 yards on 11 carries. The Bills also did a nice job shutting down Andre Roberts (two catches for 18 yards).

Defense: C+

The Cardinals held Ryan Fitzpatrick to only 153 yards in the air and recorded two sacks, both by O'Brien Schofield. Patrick Peterson had another interception and William Gay recovered a fumble. Daryl Washington was his usual active self with a game-leading 12 tackles.

Arizona had trouble stopping C.J. Spiller (12 carries, 88 yards, 1 TD) but kept both Fred Jackson (83 yards from scrimmage) and Stevie Johnson (82 receiving yards) out of the end zone.

As usual, the Red Birds' defense kept them in the game. They always seem to. If they could just get some help from the offense…

Special Teams: B+

This would have been an A grade if Jay Feely made the 38-yard FG attempt (the ball was tipped by Buffalo's Alex Carrington) that would have won the game in regulation. Feely though did boot a team-record 61-yard field goal that would have been good from 65 yards away. That tied the game up at the time at 16-16 with 1:09 remaining. He added a pair of 49-yard field goals earlier in the contest.

Once again, punter Dave Zastudil was spectacular, averaging 51.8 yards on five punts, including one inside the 20. He's performed like a Pro Bowler all season.

Arizona's kickoff coverage held Buffalo's Brad Smith and Leodis McKelvin in check while Peterson averaged 12 yards on three punt returns. One of these weeks the second-year standout is finally going to break one all the way.

Feely goes from hero to goat in Cards' wild loss

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- For a few minutes Sunday, Cardinals kicker Jay Feely was the hero. He had just nailed a 61-yard field goal -- a franchise and personal best -- to tie the score againt Bills with just over a minute to play. The crowd at University of Phoenix Stadium roared in delight. That same crowd was silenced mere minutes later when Feely missed a 38-yard field goal with three...

Undrafted Free Agent William Powell looked decent in first NFL start

While I wasn’t a fan of Powell’s blocking this weekend, and I believe Alfonso Smith would be a better starter, William Powell did rush for 70 yards on 13 carries against the Bills in Week 6. Powell added one catch for eight yards. La’Rod Stephens-Howling got the “start,” but Powell acted as the lead back on Sunday. It took Powell and the run game a while to get going, but...

Kolb's X-rays negative, Skelton could get nod

Embattled Arizona quarterback Kevin Kolb took one hit too many, and it's uncertain whether he will be able to return to lead the Cardinals against the Vikings at Minnesota next Sunday. Kolb injured his ribs while being sacked for the fifth time in Sunday's wild 19-16 overtime loss to Buffalo. Coach Ken Whisenhunt says X-rays were negative for anything broken but an MRI was...

Cardinals QB Kevin Kolb Out For ‘Unspecified Period Of Time’ - ESPN’s Adam Shefter is reporting that Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb is going to be out for an unspecified period of time. A source with the team source told Shefter said Kolb will miss “several weeks” after he had multiple ribs detach from his sternum as well as suffering a sprained sternoclavicular...

Cardinals' Kolb could be out for several games

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb is expected to be miss several weeks with rib and chest injuries. The Cardinals have ruled Kolb out of Sunday's game against Minnesota, ESPN.com reported Tuesday. Cards re-sign OT McQuistan, release CB Butler

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- The Arizona Cardinals have re-signed offensive tackle Pat McQuistan and released cornerback Crezdon Butler. The move gives the Cardinals another option on their struggling offensive line, which has given up 22 sacks in the past three games. The Cardinals had released McQuistan Sept. 25 after he was inactive the first three games of the season. The 6-foot-6...

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald Breaks 10,000 Career Yards…

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald Breaks 10,000 Career Yards - Congrats to Larry Fitzgerald. During yesterday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, Fitzgerald broke the 10,000 career receiving yards mark. Ironically, Texans WR Andre Johnson also broke that mark in the same day. Larry Fitzgerald has the numbers to prove that he has been the best WR in the NFL for the last 10 years...

Kolb questionable, his protection doubtful

Arizona QB Kevin Kolb isn’t believed to have any broken bones, but his protection broke apart several times Sunday, a theme for the Cardinals of late. Whether it is Kolb or John Skelton starting against the Vikings, the offensive line is the biggest question mark.

Bills 19, Cardinals 16, OT

Arizona kicker Jay Feely made a tying 61-yard field goal and, just as improbably, missed a 38-yarder that would have given the cardiac Cardinals another pull-it-from-the-ashes victory. Had the Cardinals not had so many mistakes before that emotionally-draining sequence, it would never have come down to those two kicks. Arizona lost a chance to win in regulation when Feely's...

Kevin Kolb To Miss Several Weeks?

Adam Schefter is reporting that Arizona QB Kevin Kolb, who injured his ribs with two minutes remaining in the fourth quarter last Sunday, will miss "several weeks."Fantasy Spin:John Skelton struggled in Kolb's place on Sunday, completing just two of ten passes for 45 yards and an interception. Skelton was the Cardinals starting quarterback on opening day but injured...

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb is expected to be out for the next several weeks after having multiple ribs detach from his sternum as well as suffering a sprained sternoclavicular joint in his chest area.  That sounds like it hurts. Kolb has likely been hit more than any other quarterback over the past few weeks and now it’s John...
