Arizona Cardinals sign 4 rookies to contracts
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Arizona Cardinals signed four of their 12 draft picks to rookie contracts today ahead of tomorrow’s rookie minicamp.

Linebacker Xavier Thomas, offensive tackle Christian Jones, wide receiver Tejhaun Palmer and cornerback Jaden Davis all inked four-year deals with the team.

Thomas was selected in the fifth round out of Clemson at No. 138 overall. Throughout six seasons, the 24-year-old played 61 games (30 starts) with the Tigers, collecting 121 tackles, 17.5 sacks, forced six fumbles and defended seven passes. Thomas is a 2018 CFP national champion and a two-time (2019-2021) third-team All-ACC.

Jones was the team’s other fifth-round pick at 162 overall. After only starting football when he was a junior in high school, the Texas product played 61 games with the Longhorns. In his final year of college, the 23 year old started all 13 games.

Palmer was a sixth-round pick out of UAB at No. 191 overall. Across three seasons, the Wisconsin native gathered 80 receptions for 1,379 yards and scored nine touchdowns. Last year, Palmer suited up for 12 games and had 47 catches for 858 yards and seven touchdowns.

Davis was the team’s final pick in the draft at No. 226 overall out of Miami. Davis spent four seasons (2019-2022) at Oklahoma before he transferred to Miami last year. Between the Sooners and Hurricanes, the Florida native played 59 games (34 starts) with 145 tackles, 15 passes defended, forced two fumbles and a sack.

Of the eight rookies left to sign for Arizona, the most notable are No. 4 overall pick WR Marvin Harrison Jr. and No. 27 overall pick DL Darius Robinson.
