A judge has issued an arrest warrant for Charles Rogers after the former Detroit Lions wide receiver failed to appear at a pretrial hearing.
Saginaw District Judge A.T. Frank issued the bench warrant earlier this week. The former Saginaw High and Michigan State standout faces five misdemeanors from two unrelated incidents.
MLive.com reports Friday (http://bit.ly/1ganF6a ) that is the fourth time in 18 months that a judge has issued a warrant for Rogers' arrest.
The 32-year-old is charged with making a malicious phone call and possessing marijuana, among other charges.
A message seeking comment was left for a lawyer who has represented Rogers in the case. Rogers was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft.

Setting the Stage
When I say “marquee matchup,” the Detroit Lions and Arizona Cardinals are not the first two teams that come to mind. Over the past ten years, the two teams sport a combined record of 113-207, good for a .353 winning percentage.

Sure, more of that lies on Detroit’s shoulders due to 2008’s 0-16 season, especially...
ALLEN PARK, Mich. The Detroit Lions, at least some of them, are tired ofbeing labeledas an undisciplined bunch of misfits.
They formed a leadership council this year, comprised of several veteran players, including receiver Nate Burleson.
On Wednesday morning during practice, the entire team ran three half-gassers for each personal foul from Sundays 34-24 opening victory over Minnesota...
Ndamukong Suh will never learn. That much is apparent.
After the NFL slammed the Lions defensive lineman with a $100,000 fine, Suh fired back with some rhetoric that should, at the very least, get the NFL’s attention.
“Really you just play football, that’s all I can do,” Suh said via NFL.com. “…I don’t change, I’m going to always play tough, hard, that’s...
Lions tailback Reggie Bush played through a dislocated thumb, pulled groin and now add hyperextended knee Sunday against the Vikings, according to ProFootballTalk.comFantasy Spin:Bush suffered the injuries in the first half and none kept him from having a great day. It's just troublesome that he's already nicked up with 15 games to go. Handcuffing Joique Bell to the injury...
By all accounts the surgically repaired right knee of Lions receiver Ryan Broyles is doing fine.
He played 30 snaps in the exhibition season and caught two passes for 32 yards. He hasn’t been listed on an injury report for the first two weeks and has participated fully in every practice.
Yet there’s no indication of when Broyles might make his regular-season debut or whether...
It sounds like Giants DL is feeling some of Ndamukong Suh’s frustration. He isn’t defending Suh but there is definitely some contempt being held against the legality of low blocks for offensive players. “I think it was dirty,” Canty said. “I have to say this though: I understand his frustration because offensive linemen do it to defensive linemen all the time. But you just...
It was all anyone could talk about this week after the Detroit Lions beat up on the Minnesota Vikings; Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was in line for a huge fine, thanks to a cheap hit he put on Vikings center John Sullivan's knee during a play. Suh took a dive towards Sullivan's knee far away from a play, blindsiding Sullivan, who went down with an apparent injury...
Detroit Lions (1-0) at Arizona Cardinals (0-1)
The Lions won just 4 games last year despite outgaining opponents by the 2nd most yardage in the NFL, by over 1000 yards. This is largely because they surrendered a ridiculous 70 points on return touchdowns, without scoring once in that fashion. If you take that out of the equation, the Lions would have outscored their opponents on...
Last week, Reggie Bush was the Burning Bush. This week, the Vikings face a similar, but more consistent challenge in Matt Forte. The linebackers have to answer or they’ll be doing plenty of answering questions this coming week.
Lions' receiver Calvin Johnson will have talented Cardinals' cornerback Patrick Peterson on him all day long, according to coach Bruce Arians.Fantasy Spin:Nothing that wasn't expected. They matched up last season and Megatron caught 10 balls for 121 yards, though Arizona won the game. Johnson didn't do much in Week 1 with four catches for 37 yards.
