St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson will, hit the free agent market, reports Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
The team's career rushing record holder is leaving $7 million on the table in doing so, but the Rams couldn't afford him anyway. They also save face from not having to release him.
A possible landing spot could be in Atlanta, where the Falcons are reportedly thinking of releasing Michael Turner. Wherever Jackson goes, he'd like to play for a contender, as he never played in a playoff game in his NFL career.
But all hope is not lost on Jackson remaining in St. Louis, as his agent and team reps met at the Combine and will continue to talk about an affordable deal.
