Jonathan Jones of the Charlotte Observer reports that a team source has informed him that “at least one playoff-contending team” has contacted that Panthers regarding RB DeAngelo Williams.
Earlier in the day, head coach Ron Rivera mentioned that they’re not actively looking to trade Williams, but he didn’t rule out the idea completely.
“We’ve got to sit here and see if somebody does call, but we’re not looking to move anybody or send anybody away or try to get anybody out there,” Rivera said. “I don’t think we have a lot to give in terms of trying to trade for players.
The Broncos were reportedly interested in Williams two years ago when he was a free agent and John Fox obviously coached while in Carolina, so they could be an option. Green Bay seems to mentioned for nearly every running back, so I guess they too could be a possibility.
It’s still hard to say what the Panthers would be looking for in terms of compensation, but I’m sure we’ll here more regarding a potential Williams
