The Met Costume Gala is one of the most anticipated fashion events of the year, often touted as the “East Coast Oscars.” This year’s Spring 2012 exhibition, organized by The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art, is called “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations.”  The exhibition is on view from May 10 through August 19, 2012 and it explores the likeness between these two Italian designers from different eras.

The event is notorious for fabulous, over-the-top ensembles and this year was no different. Athletes broke out their best designer duds for the evening in an effort to keep up with the fashion elite. Here’s a look at the pros who made their way down the Met Gala Red Carpet:

New England Patriots QB, Tom Brady, dressed in a Tom Ford tux and accessorized with Gisele on his arm.  Brady’s ever-evolving hairdos have included a buzz cut, a ponytail and a Bieber shag among others. Last night he debuted yet another new ‘do, a style that was reminiscent of Little Rascals’ Alfalfa.

The Jets’ new QB, Tim Tebow, continues to cause quite a frenzy among New Yorkers. He made his way down the red carpet clad in a Ralph Lauren Purple Label tux. Despite blending in well with the high-fashion crowd, Tebow admtted he’s no fashion expert. He revealed that he spent only 12 minutes getting ready and discussed his personal style explaining: “I don’t know. I consider myself to be blessed with good people around me that most of the time give me good advice.”

Since winning the Super Bowl, Victor Cruz was thrust into the fashion spotlight making numerous appearances during Fashion Week and quickly catching the eye of Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour. It was no surprise that he snagged a coveted invite to last night’s gala. Photogs congratulated the Giants’ WR when he took to the red carpet wearing a Calvin Klein collection tux.

The Met Gala is always an opportunity to experiment with fashion, a concept that is certainly not foreign to Amar’e Stoudemire. The Knicks forward is known for being a fashion risk-taker and he proved that again last night, wearing a Calvin Klein Collection tux. A gray jacket and black pants were accessorized with a black bowler hat, floppy bow tie and pocket square.  Amar’e also admitted that he researched Elsa Schiaparelli before the evening’s event, in an effort to better understand the exhibit.

Though his team is in the midst of the NBA playoffs, Carmelo Anthony hung up his jersey for the night in favor of Rag & Bone attire. He looked dapper in the tux from one of his favorite designers as well as a pair of loafers. He also posed with his stylish Knicks teammate, Amar’e Stoudemire.

The Patriots haven’t won a Super Bowl since the 2004 season, and there are many suggestions why. Their defense isn’t as good. It’s karma for spygate. They’ve gotten too cocky. I’ve heard all the excuses. But I think we can zero-in on the real answer: Tom Brady becoming too fashion-conscious. Brady attended the Met Gala in New York City on Monday night along with wifey...

31 Greatest Tom Brady Haircuts & Hairstyles That Drive Gay Men Nuts

Let’s face it, each time Tom Brady hits a red carpet a new hairstyle makes its debut only to make gay men drop what they’re doing and hit the salon. Last night, Tom debuted the ‘Dorsal Fin’ at the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Gala. It’s a play off a David Beckham faux hawk and Cameron Diaz’s bangs look in Something About Mary. You must give Brady credit, he’ll...

NESN Photochop: Where Did Tom Brady Get the Inspiration for His Sidehawk Hairstyle?

Tom Brady has style. Right? Right. We're going to defer to his supermodel wife Gisele Bundchen on this one, since we have to assume she had a hand in Brady's latest fashion statement at the 2012 Met Gala on Monday night. Brady's hair drew the ire of many sports fans thanks to his unique stylings in the form of a "sidehawk," a look we're not so used to seeing...

Tom Brady = Euro Trash

I’ve completely run out of ways to defend you Tom. I’ve taken bullets for you left and right, but this latest stunt of yours is the straw that broke the camel’s back. There’s nothing else I can do. It was bad enough that I tried to tell people “The camera just caught him at the wrong moment” when you were filmed on a water slide auditioning for a tampon commercial....

Tad Johnson presents: the facebook fan page contest

Alright guys, this is pretty simple. For the last few weeks I’ve been trying to gain more fans on my facebook page for D&D. The idea I was given was that I should offer to do something if my page gets to a certain number of likes. That’s what I’ve decided to do (with an ‘okay’ from the head guys here at D&D) So here’s the plan. I’m leaving a survey on this article...
