Geno Atkins lost the tie for the Bengals single-season sack record by an interior defensive lineman earlier this week but he gained another honor. The second-year defensive tackle was a second-team selection to The Associated Press NFL All-Pro team. Joining Atkins were New England’s Vince Wilfork and Oakland’s Richard Seymour. Baltimore’s Haloti Ngata and San Francisco’s Justin Smith were the first-team selections. Smith, a former Bengals first-round pick who was with the team from 2001-07, also made second team at defensive end. Former Bengals corner Johnathan Joseph also made the second team. Atkins, who is the first alternate at DT for the Pro Bowl, led the team in sacks with 7.5 and tied Oakland’s Tommy Kelly for the league lead among defensive tackles. He was ranked second on the defensive line in tackles with 69 and had two fumble recoveries, including one he returned for a touchdown.
