The Atlanta Falcons locked up one of their most promising young defensive linemen when end Kroy Biermann agreed to a new three-year contract on Wednesday, FOXSports.com has learned.
Biermann, a fifth-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, has been an up-and-coming player in the Falcons' defensive line rotation and also is a key special teams contributor. He has played in 64 NFL games with 17 starts; 14 of those starts came in 2010 when the Falcons were the NFC South champions.
Reality TV fans may know Biermann best as the husband of "Real Housewives of Atlanta" star Kim Zolciak. The two married during the NFL lockout in 2011 and have a son together.
The new deal is believed to be in the $10 to $12 million range.
BEST OF MAXIM
We talked last week about the signing of Kroy Biermann being "imminent". Well today was that day. Biermann signed a three-year contract that could be worth up to $12 million. The Biermann signing comes on the heels of the Falcons also locking up safety Thomas Decoud. These aren't earth shattering signing like a Mario Williams signing would be but they are both needed...
Free safety Thomas DeCoud plans to sign a new contract with the Atlanta Falcons.
Terms of the deal were not announced by DeCoud or the team in public statements released Tuesday.
''Thanks for all the congratulations, everyone,'' DeCoud told his followers on Twitter. ''Looking forward to taking my game to the next level and help the falcons take that next...
Last season, John Abraham posted 9.5 sacks and 4 forced fumbles. He wasn’t invited to the Pro Bowl like he was in 2010, but he was still one of the Falcon’s biggest difference-makers on defense. Abraham was paid $8 Million dollars last season, but is seeking upwards of $12 Million per season. In comparison, [...]
We Need To See Much Less of This From Peria Jerry
Every season each team has a few players who unexpectedly make that jump from a guy on the team to an impact player, and every season each team has a few players who need to make that jump to keep their jobs. The Falcons have had their share of players in the last few years - Brent Grimes, Jason Snelling, Corey Peters - who...
ATLANTA, MARCH 8 – The Atlanta Falcons issued a statement this afternoon stating that they have “come to terms” with running back Jason Snelling.
Snelling has quietly become one of the NFL’s premier change-of-pace backs. His versatility has set him up to flourish catching passes out of the backfield, blocking from the fullback position and running between the tackles in...
The Atlanta Falcons agreed to terms with their starting safety Thomas DeCoud on a contract extension, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.Terms of the deal have were not disclosed.DeCoud had four interceptions and 73 tackles last season for the Falcons.Atlanta is also reportedly close to a contract extension with DE Kroy Biermann.
Last week the Falcons put the franchise tag on corner back Brent Grimes. This week they have started out by re-signing safety Thomas Decoud. Terms were not disclosed but the rumor is two years for $5 million. That's a price I can get behind for a guy that has shown some definite talent in the past but is coming off of a lackluster year.
Decoud was part of the very first draft...
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Atlanta Falcons have signed safety Thomas DeCoud to a new five-year $17.5 million contract with $4 million guaranteed.
DeCoud had a very good season in 2011 with 86 tackles and 4 interceptions while helping the Falcons get into the playoffs for the third time in four years.
With free agency less than a week away, Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network believes the Atlanta Falcons will make a strong run at Texans defensive end/linebacker Mario Williams.
“Look for Falcons to make a strong run for him. … I’d look for them to be aggressive,” said LaCanfora, per Evan Silva.
The Falcons will likely let veteran John Abraham walk in free agency since he’s...
CHFF’s Russian mail-order Naughty Nurse checks the statistical vital signs of the Atlanta Falcons. Her penetrating pigskin probe finds that management panicked in the 2011 draft and that the franchise is still far from a legit contender.....
According to the Atlanta Falcons official Twitter page, they have re-signed running back Jason Snelling. We don’t have the details of the contract at this time.
Snelling signed a one-year deal last offseason to stay in Atlanta and has shown that he’s a viable third-down back that can help take some of the load off of Michael Turner.
Welcome back to my newest Mock Off-Season where we look at not just draft picks but also free agent signings. Their are going to be quite a few changes since last time. Since my last update the Falcons have franchised CB Brent Grimes, signed exclusive rights free agents Michael Palmer and Antone Smith, and finally they re-signed FS Thomas Decoud. As of right now Grimes' has not...
Jason LaCanfora has crossed with me and I am not sure if I can just let this one slide. After years of learning to temper my football expectations, I mentally accepted that the monstrous Mario Williams would not play for Atlanta. Williams has been linked to Seattle and New England, but not to Atlanta. The elite pass rusher will likely bring sacks to another team for years....
