ATLANTA, GA- There are nine players listed on the official injury report for the Atlanta Falcons as of Thursday.
Harry Douglas was the only new addition to this list along with his fellow receivers in Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez. Douglas did not practice due to a knee injury. Gonzalez missed his second straight day of practice nursing a toe injury, while White was limited in practice Thursday to let his shoulder recover

The players that listed on the defensive side of the ball are: Malliciah Goodman, Peria Jerry, Corey Peters, and Sean Weatherspoon. All of whom participated in practice except Malliciah Goodman.
Weatherspoon was re-activated and put onto the roster Tuesday, which subsequently led to the cutting of veteran linebacker Thomas Howard. Weatherspoon was placed on IR with a designation to return after at least six games. Howard only appeared in two games for the Falcons this season.
The running backs Steven Jackson and Jason Snelling were both participants in practice on Thursday as well. Jackson was able to practice fully, while Snelling was limited with a knee injury that kept him from practicing on Wednesday.
All season quality Falcons players have been dropping out of the game left and right. The latest addition to that list is Sam Baker. Smith announced on Tuesday that Baker would be also heading for season-ending injured reserve. Lamar Holmes is set to take over full time duties at left tackle.
“I think Lamar has progressed extremely well at left tackle,” Mike Smith said Tuesday, “he’s gotten better every week. You have to evaluate those guys individually and I think he’s done a very good job. He’s gotten better.”
Smith is once again waxing poetically again as he places false bravado in the ability of Holmes. While he is not a bad player, he would’ve been cut otherwise, he still needs guidance and leadership to really be solidified into an every down starter at tackle.
However, the injury situation has thrust him once again into a very vital position. It’s time for Holmes to step up and impress for the remainder of the season. If not for his own job, then he should improve for the safety of the team’s $100 million dollar man in Matt Ryan.
With the activation of Weatherspoon, what will happen to the up-and-coming rookie tackle machine, Paul Worrilow? Presumably Weatherspoon would reclaim his spot and Worrilow would get pushed back in the lineup; coming in only when Weatherspoon was winded from a hurry-up style offense.
Many fans of Worrilow seemed to hint at not wasting the development of his talents. He has 55 tackles on the year with 38 of those coming in two back-to-back games. He has already tied for first in Falcons single-game tackling performances since 1994 with Curtis Lofton in 2009.
If Smith were to rearrange the roster the only place I could see him moving Worrilow would be to MLB. The lineup would be as follows: Sean Weatherspoon as the weakside linebacker, Worrilow sharing time with Akeem Dent and Joplo Bartu at strong. If they could mix in Dent with Worrilow somehow, maybe in special blitz packages, I think that would be a creative idea to get all your best guys that can make some plays on the field simultaneously.
