Click to view slideshow. Apparently “True North Strong and Free” the best-known nickname for Canada.  It’s at least the most polite name that I’ve heard. If Canada is America’s northern neighbor, then Redskins safety Oshiomogho Atogwe is the neighbor’s kid who spends more time at your house than his own.  It’s been months since Atogwe went home, and even longer since he played football in Canada. “It’s been since high school,” he said.  ”I’m excited to go back.” Atogwe grew up in Windsor, Ontario, which is just outside of Detroit, Mich.  Toronto is just outside of Buffalo, N.Y., 225 miles away. Or in Canada, that would be 364 kilometers. Despite the haul, it’s a lot closer than Washington or anywhere else that the Redskins will play this year, and Atogwe has lots of family and friends making the trek. “I got about 40 people going to the game,” he said.  With only 46,000 seats available at...

Santana Moss Could Return in a Few Weeks

When Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss fractured a bone in his hand this past weekend against the Panthers,  the first initial report was that he would be out 5-7 weeks.  Now according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post,  Moss has indicated that he could return sooner. Moss said the doctors “gave me anywhere from three [...]

Redskins injury report: Three defensive starters questionable vs. Bills

Four Washington Redskins defensive players — three of them starters — are questionable for the team’s game against the Buffalo Bills in Toronto Sunday. Safety Oshiomogho Atogwe (knee), cornerback DeAngelo Hall (hip), linebacker London Fletcher (hamstring) and backup corner Phillip Buchanon (neck, knee) all were limited in Friday’s practice and it’s uncertain whethere they...

The Caps and the bandwagon Redskins

It’s been exactly 20 years since a Washington pro sports team began a season 8-0. Like, exactly exactly 20 years. The Bandwagon Redskins won their eighth straight game to start the season on Oct. 27, 2011. Thursday night in Edmonton, the Caps will have a chance to equal that mark. No other D.C. team has come close in the past two decades. Read full article >>

Redskins' Cooley says he botched knee rehab during lockout

The NFL has made Chris Cooley a millionaire many times over. During the NFL lockout, when he was banned from working with the Washington Redskins' training staff, he could've hired the best physical therapists around to help him with the left knee that was feeling stiff from surgery in January.

Online Pro Bowl voting already underway

Fan voting for the 2012 Pro Bowl has gotten underway and will continue until mid-December. It’s still early, but nearly every Redskins starter is on the ballot, as are kick returner Brandon Banks, kicker Graham Gano, punter Sav Rocca and special teams captain Lorenzo Alexander. Among Redskins candidates, Brian Orakpo leads all NFC outside linebackers with 4.5 sacks. Read full article >>

Redskins Coming To Toronto!

I cannot wait until Sunday.  My entire family is joining me to watch our favourite team play minutes from our homes.  No matter the score or outcome, this will be one of the best days in my life for sure.  I’ve been to a few Redskins home games over the past few years, but seeing them at the Rogers Centre will be a whole new experience.  What I am extremely bummed about is...

Fletcher questionable

Washington ILB London Fletcher was limited in practice both Thursday and Friday with a hamstring injury, but according to head coach Mike Shanahan, Fletcher will start barring any setbacks. Here is the listing of Washington’s other injured players for Sunday’s game. Out WR Santana Moss LT Trent Williams FB Mike Sellers Questionable ILB London Fletcher – hamstring...

Bills vs. Redskins: Five story lines for Week 8 matchup

The Washington Redskins on Sunday face the 4-2 Buffalo Bills in Toronto, and aim to snap a two-game losing streak and regain the positive form with which they opened the season.  The Redskins have had to do a good bit of reshuffling because of another round of injuries at key positions.  Here are five story lines to follow as Washington takes on Buffalo. Cooley: I’m a casualty of the lockout

Chris Cooley’s knee never responded after his surgery this offseason. That slowed him down to start the year, and ultimately ended his season early. Cooley believes the lockout is largely to blame. “I feel 100 percent – and I’m not blaming anybody. I feel one hundred percent that I am a casualty for the season,…

Dome, Sweet Dome

Click to view slideshow. Welcome to the Rogers Centre [sic]. Time will tell if this is a hostile environment, but as of right now, the 55,000 seats are not yet filled.  Once again, I was impressed this week by the turnout of Redskins Nation in a foreign land, including this motley group from Hamilton, Ontario: And they said I wouldn’t post the photo. The players were locked...
