The Bills beat the Chiefs 35-17.

I’d like to take a moment to thank the Buffalo Bills for saving me a lot of time and money on therapy. Technically, it’s the least they could do, since they were the reason for my impending self-imposed intervention/treatment. CJ Spiller’s glorious 123 yards and two TDs, Fitz’s nerve-wracking 34 yards rushing, Leodis McKelvin’s 88-yard punt return and the secondary’s overall competence preserved my sanity…for now.

What’s more impressive than the win (and the chance to watch all the haters try to pretend like it didn’t happen) is that the Bills didn’t just squeak out a victory, they delivered it with all types of red, white and blue flare.

Spiller was on a roll. Any fear I had of him not being able to fill in for FredJackson vanished with his back to back touchdowns and breakaway runs. Freddy J is still my main man, don’t get it twisted, but it’s super encouraging to see Spiller solidify himself as a viable, dynamic running back. Finally, I saw why he was our prized draft pick two years ago.

Fitzpatrick. Where do I start? For a while, the offense looked like a one man show. Every time Fitz would break out of the pocket and make a run for it to turn over downs, I could imagine him flipping his hand and saying “Don’t worry about it, guys, I got this.” A few misfired shots but he looked every bit the Fitzmagic we’re used to. Connecting with Stevie Johnson and Scott Chandler for TDs, despite Spiller’s domination, really had the offense looking kind of fabulous.

After last week’s 48-point fiasco, I was highly concerned about the defense. I shouldn’t have been. I’m not saying things are all sparkles and rainbows, because KC did manage to get themselves 17 points. But, the Bills secondary held KC to just three points until the fourth quarter, forced two fumbles, snatched an interception, had Matt Cassel chillin’ on the turf. The crown jewel defensively? When seconds before halftime, Nick Barnett stripped KC’s Peyton Hillis on a short second-and-goal and Bryan Scott recovered the fumble. I’m used to other teams pulling tricks like that but that was some of the best defensive effort I’ve seen from the Bills in awhile. I like it, I like it a lot.

Does anyone remember the last time every point on the board was from a touchdown? I don’t. I hope Rian Lindell’s leg enjoyed an uncharacteristically relaxing Sunday.

I do have one gripe. I should have been at that game. The “Lead the Charge” towels given out at the gate…I NEED one! If anyone wants to find me one and send it to me, I’ll give you this puke green Jets towel that makes a great doormat or toilet paper. I’m so serious.

GO BILLS!!!
