If you didn’t know any better, you might confuse the 2011 New York Giants‘ defense with one of, say, 2007. Much like the Super Bowl winning season, New York has bounced back from a Week 1 loss to the Washington Redskins, taking over first place in the wild NFC East, due in large part to their defense. Certainly, there are major differences in this year’s defensive squad, compared to the championship-valiant one. Still, there has been one, big similarity: the pass rush. Even without star defensive end Justin Tuck, who has been out due to a neck injury, Big Blue has been able to put pressure on every quarterback they’ve faced — most recently two weeks ago, when they took down the up-beat Buffalo Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, and it has lead to success all around the field. Aaron Ross and Corey Webster have been turning heads in the secondary, with three and two interceptions, respectivley. Antrel Rolle has been a bright spot for New York, leading the team with 45 total tackles, and playing a big role in stopping the running game.
