The Atlanta Falcons are facing troubling times this season as their star wide receiver Julio Jones is officially out for the season.
The confirmation comes from ESPN’s Chris Mortensen who reports that Jones will undergo season-ending foot surgery next week. Jones received a second opinion Wednesday with Dr. Robert Anderson who confirmed the foot fracture. Jones will be placed on injury reserve.
It was a tough loss for the Falcons when they played the New York Jets this past Monday (30-28) and are now 1-4. News later revealed that Jones suffered a foot injury during the game and was seen limping out of the X-ray room; a definite bad sign.
This is a major loss to the Falcons offense. Jones has been their leading receiver with 41 catches on 60 targets for 580 yards and two touchdowns.
With Julio out for the rest of the season, the Falcons will be counting on an already injured Roddy White and Harry Douglas at the receiver position.
