Last time we saw Lee Evans, he was busy getting stripped by New England Patriots defensive back Sterling Moore during the AFC title game in what should have been a game-winning reception that propelled Baltimore into Super Bowl XLVI. Instead, Evans was unable to cradle the ball in the end zone in the closing moments of January’s AFC title tilt that Baltimore lost 23-20. Today, Baltimore announced it was terminating the contract of Evans.

Ricky Williams placed on reserve/retired list

The Baltimore Ravens placed running back Ricky Williams on the reserve/retired list last Friday. By placing Williams on the reserve/retired list, the Ravens would retain Williams’ rights should he return for the 2012 season. Williams, 34, is under contract through next season, but Baltimore gets to take his $1.5 million base salary off its salary [...]

Ravens clear some cap room

The Ravens are gearing up to sign whoever they draft and some free agents, while also extending Ray Rice and maybe re-signing Ben Grubbs. For all of that to happen, they need to fit all of their players within the salary cap. Baltimore continued that process today. According to multiple reports, the Ravens released cornerback Domonique Foxworth after he failed a physical with the...

Ravens release Foxworth

The Baltimore Ravens released cornerback Domonique Foxworth on Monday after he failed a physical. The move had been anticipated for sometime, as Foxworth was set to make $7 million in base salary in 2012, but had played in just two games over the past two seasons because of a serious ACL tear. Foxworth, 28, is [...]

Ravens release cornerback Foxworth

The Baltimore Ravens have released cornerback Domonique Foxworth. Foxworth played in 18 games over three seasons with the Ravens. He missed the 2010 season after tearing a ligament in his right knee on the first day of training camp and appeared in two games in 2011 because of knee problems. He was entering the final year of a four-year, $27.2 million contract. The 29-year-old...

How long is too long for Rice?

To no one’s surprise, the Ravens placed the franchise tag on running back Ray Rice Friday. The hope is to work out a long-term deal for the Pro Bowler. That brings up the question how long is too long? Rice just turned 25, so conventional thinking is he has four great years left. His agent is reportedly seeking a deal similar to the one Adrian Peterson signed before the 2011 season...

Ravens Update

Domonique Foxworth's frustrating and painful tenure with the Baltimore Ravens reached an unsurprising end Monday afternoon.

Texans, Foster provide blueprint for Ravens, Rice

Wasn’t it just yesterday I wrote about a possible contract for Ray Rice? As I was perusing the Internet Sunday night, I saw the Seattle Seahawks and Marshawn Lynch reportedly came to a contract agreement on a four-year deal worth $31 million with $18 million guaranteed. Then I see this morning the Texans and Arian Foster agreed to a five-year deal worth $43.5 million and $20.75...

Ch-Ch-Changes at the Nest

I know there’s been a dearth of posting around here lately, and I apologize. There is, however, a very good reason. Let me explain… The times, they are a-changin’ here at B’More Birds’ Nest. When I started this blog way back in September of 2007, it was just a fun way to vent about the Ravens, who had just lost an incredibly frustrating game to the Cincinnati Bengals to...

Ravens Release Chris Carr, Lee Evans, Franchise Tag Ray Rice

Baltimore Ravens executive vice president and general manager Ozzie Newsome announced on Friday the team designated running back Ray Rice as the franchise player, and terminated the contracts of cornerback Chris Carr and wide receiver Lee Evans in the process. The Ravens’ prized star back will be guaranteed a one-year contract equivalent to the average amount of the top five paid...

For now, Foxworth remains a Raven

It’s somewhat puzzling that veteran cornerback Domonique Foxworth wasn’t released Friday along with veterans Chris Carr and Lee Evans. It has been highly publicized for weeks that Foxworth was likely on his way out with both Carr and Evans. But for the time being, Foxworth still has a job with the Ravens. Foxworth, 28, has [...]
