This year’s AFC Championship is a rematch of the one played last year in which the Patriots were victorious. Last year’s game could have gone to overtime but a missed field goal by Billy Cundiff ended the game in regulation. This could be Ray Lewis’s last game in the NFL, so the Ravens continue to have have some added emotion and motivation for this game. Baltimore Ravens Just like the Falcons, the Ravens barely made it to play this week. They were down by a touchdown with under a minute left last week when Joe Flacco threw a miraculous 70-yard touchdown to Jacoby Jones. It was their last hope to tie the game, and it was a successful one. The game then went all the way into double overtime, where the Ravens won on a 47-yard field goal. It was a surprising win over the Broncos who seemed to be on their way to a victory. Denver may have pulled out a win if not for an interception thrown by Peyton Manning that set up the game-winning field goal for the Ravens. It was an awful pass that made him look like the Vikings’ Brett Favre against the Saints. After a poor finish to the regular season it is surprising to see the Ravens playing so well, but this week will be an even tougher test against Tom Brady and the Patriots. New England Patriots The Patriots enjoyed their bye week and showed it by playing a great game against the Texans. Tom Brady threw for 344 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. The team as a whole did not have any turnovers, while the defense intercepted Matt Schaub one time. The first half ended with the score being 17-13 in favor of the Patriots. It was the close game that was expected, but that quickly changed with three New England touchdowns in the second half that pushed the score to 38-13. The final score of 41-28 makes the game seem closer than it actually was, as Houston added two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Ravens-Patriots Prediction Ray Lewis has been playing to keep his career alive throughout the playoffs, and it appears that the road may come to an end for him in New England. The Patriots are playing too well as of late to go down at home in this game.
