Prior to this past week, the Baltimore Ravens were one of the more healthier teams in football, but that luck ran out last Sunday as the Ravens lost CB Lardarius Webb and LB Ray Lewis to season ending injuries. Baltimore's injury report yesterday had some names on it that have not been there all season. First we will begin with yesterday's injury report:   Did not Practice: Ma'ake Kemoeatu (knee) – We should know more after today's practice, but it is not thought he is in danger of losing any game time. Haloti Ngata (knee) – Ngata was likely just given the day to rest and heal, coach Harbaugh stated earlier in the week that Ngata's injury was a minor one. Jimmy Smith (ribs) – This is another case of a guy simply given the day to rest and heal, especially with the knowledge that he will be a starting corner back the rest of the season with Webb out. Look for Smith to return to practice today. Limited Participation: Bryant McKinnie (thigh) – McKinnie was limited in practice Wednesday, but he is not expected to miss any game time. Injury News and Notes:   Lardarius Webb will undergo surgery this week to repair his torn ACL and meniscus and has been placed in Injured Reserve. Ray Lewis had surgery on his torn right triceps yesterday and was placed on Injured Reserve with a special designation that keeps the door open for a return this season. This was welcoming news to Ravens fans as it was thought that Lewis was a definite loss for the season. The special designation would allow Lewis to return to practice after six weeks with a possible return in week 15, but it is still a long shot as normal recovery time for a fully torn triceps is six months. The special designation refers to a new rule or option so to speak this year in the NFL that allows you to place a player on Injured Reserve but designated to return (think of it like the 60-day DL in baseball). A touch of really good news yesterday was the return of Terrell Suggs to the practice field. Suggs was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list and was a limited participant in practice but looked like a kid in a candy store and excited to be back on the football field. Baltimore is trying to heal up the best they can before this Sunday's showdown with the Houston Texans, of whom the Ravens are tied with for the best record in the AFC and seem to be the logical obstacle for home field advantage throughout the Playoffs for Baltimore.
