Found August 15, 2013 on Football Nation:
This past March, The Ravens announced the release of wide receiver Anquan Boldin. This decision was made after the team and Boldin were unable to agree on a pay cut that Boldin was asked to take in order to free up money.Ever since the decision was announced it seems all around the football world people think he was the only player the Ravens have on the offense.  Also, there seems to be a wrong assumption that Boldin played a bigger role than he did. Now let’s not forget that he did have a great past season, and that Ravens fans appreciated the receiver for his athleticism and great plays he made last year, but what everyone seems to be forgetting or ignoring is he was a one-season hero for the Ravens. True, the Ravens won the Super Bowl and yes, Boldin was pivotal in the postseason to get the Ravens to the championship and their Super Bowl win -- but this does not erase the fact that he did not achieve this in his two seasons before. In the 2011 season Boldin was known for droppin...

A.Q. Shipley will start Thursday for the Ravens

Perhaps one of the more under-the-radar competitions in the NFL right now is the race for the starting center job in Baltimore. With veteran Matt Birk retiring earlier in the offseason, the Ravens brought in A.Q. Shipley to compete with Gino Gradkowski for the position. Shipley will receive his first opportunity to start a game for the Ravens this Thursday versus the Falcons after...

Joe Flacco Believes Ravens’ Defense Will Be Dominant

Joe Flacco might have gotten the big money deal, but he still knows what wins championship in Baltimore. Flacco was a guest on Mike and Mike in the Morning, “that he loves the way the Ravens’ defense gets after him in practice, and he thinks Baltimore can dominate opposing offenses this season.” “I tell you what, our defense looks really good,” Flacco said on “Mike...

Ravens seek cure for inconsistent offense

With three weeks left before the start of the regular season, the Baltimore Ravens are still searching for production and consistency from their first-team offense. The starting unit produced only three first downs and 13 yards rushing Thursday night in a preseason game against Atlanta. A 77-yard pass from Joe Flacco to Torrey Smith was the lone highlight from an offense that last...

Ravens players and fans still buzzing over open practice at M&T...

Over 25,000 fans showed up this past Sunday to experience a free event at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore---a Ravens practice (in full pads). To a man the Ravens players said the same thing: "It was great to work out before a public audience. We were pumped. It was really special." For a bunch of the younger guys it was their first time inside their home stadium...

Ravens first-team knows it has a lot to clean up after dismal showing against Falcons...

I told you about the Fool [in the gold] on the Hill... Apparently John Harbaugh saw it too. He called the Ravens' performance in the first half of their 27-23 win over the Falcons Thursday night in PS Game 2 "the worst half he has ever witnessed" from the Ravens. Couldn't stop the run in the first half. Couldn't get anything going on offense other than...

49ers Anxious to Hit Alex Smith

Alex Smith spent his first 8 seasons as a San Francisco 49er before losing the starting job to Colin Kaepernick and being traded to the Kansas City Chiefs in the offseason.  Now he’s set to face his former team in a preseason game on Friday.  Quarterbacks aren’t usually allowed to be touched at practice, so 49ers defensive players have never been able to get their hands...
