PLAYERS: Tom Heckert
TEAMS: Cleveland Browns
Joe Banner is talking. This time, Banner sat down with Nate Ulrich for a Q&A about a variety of topics. Like Scott Petrak’s article this morning, it is must-read stuff for Browns fans. One note of interest is that while Browns fans speak of domes, Joe Banner is thinking a bit more pragmatically starting with the basics at the gates and concession stands. I don’t think I’m telling anybody anything they don’t know that there were longer lines at the concession stands than ideally we’d like to have there be. We’ll probably increase some of the varieties of food options. I think there’s some pedestrian and car traffic issues that we can enhance to help people get in and out of the building faster. I know we’re gonna do an evaluation of the number of gates and the opportunity there to maybe streamline lines. These are just headlines of things we’re gonna work on. Again, it is must-read stuff from Banner. He again re-iterates his solid relationship with Tom Heckert as well as his thoughts on Heckert’s Philly exit. Banner on Heckert: “we have the same priorities”

Scott Petrak got a sit-down with new Browns CEO Joe Banner that is a must-read for Browns fans. You know you have the time with the bye week this week. In the article, Banner is quoted pretty warmly with regard to Tom Heckert and their past working relationship despite some of the rumor and innuendo to the contrary. “There’s nothing in our relationship that would be anything...

According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer,  new Browns owner Jimmy Haslam and CEO Joe Banner plan on plan on evaluating rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden over the final seven weeks of the season. “He acknowledged that he and Haslam have seven more games to determine if Brandon Weeden is their quarterback of the future, especially considering that the Browns might...

Brandon Weeden Has 7 Games To Prove He’s The Browns QB Of The Future

Browns new CEO Joe Banner mentioned that they plan on evaluating the team for the remainder of the season and that includes rookie QB Brandon Weeden. “It’s right to put Brandon on the list of important things we have to figure out and we have seven games left to do that,” Banner said, via the  Cleveland Plain Dealer. “It’s an extremely important question for this organization...

Trent Richardson says he’s going to be a different player when he’s healthy

Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson can’t wait until he’s finally healthy so everyone can really see what he can do. “I haven’t been at 100 percent yet, so I’m waiting for that moment,” said Richardson, who missed pretty much missed training camp after recovering from a knee scope. “Whenever my ribs do heal, it’s going to make a big difference having this...

In defense of the great Phil Dawson

I was reading an otherwise great article today at Grantland by Bill Barnwell that pointed out how bad a job Jacksonville Jaguars GM Gene Smith is at his job, when a snippet caught my attention. While talking about Josh Scobee and his contract from the Jags, a footnote said the following about Phil Dawson. Given that kickers are incredibly inconsistent from year to year, I still...

Cleveland Browns: Week 10 NFL Power Rankings (#28)

Last week: 28 (+0) Record: 2-7 Once again the Browns played a team close and came up short this week. Against Baltimore, they actually scored more frequently than the Ravens, scoring 5 field goals, which Baltimore just scored 4 times, though they got 3 touchdowns and a field goal. The Browns imploded once they got into field goal range thanks to some bad play calling. They also had...

Awesome Phil Dawson Gets Vanderjacked for the Browns

Phil Dawson has been a Cleveland Brown since joining the NFL in 1999 and sad part of that story is Phil Dawson has been a Cleveland Brown since 1999! Dawson had a great game on Sunday as he led the Browns by going 5-5 from Field Goal range. Unfortunately, that was all the points the Browns could muster as they fell to the Ravens 25-15. What’s more impressive is Dawson is at 100...

Pat Shurmur Needs to Go Now!

If Jimmy Haslam III wants to fix the flailing Browns, he can do so in one easy step! That step would be to fire Pat Shurmur before the next game and turn the team over to either Brad Childress or Dick Jauron for the remainder of the 2012 season. Shurmur has time and time again

It’s called “X’s and O’s with the Bros: because you don’t have to be a player...

Weeden has to step up for Browns

The Browns want more from Brandon Weeden when they return from their bye for the final seven games, and if he does not improve, new CEO Joe Banner might decide the 29-year-old rookie is not the right quarterback to lead the way going forward. Banner and his boss, new owner Jimmy Haslam, have decided to wait until after the season to make any changes in the front office or coaching...
