Pittsburgh could get Ben Roethlisberger back this week for a home game against the San Diego Chargers, but the Steelers have confidence in Charlie Batch if he cannot go because of his shoulder and rib injuries. Batch had his best performance in a Steelers uniform when he completed 25 of 36 passes for 276 yards in a 23-20 victory over Baltimore, including rallying the Steelers from seven down in the fourth quarter for the victory. "It was a huge win for him," said tight end Heath Miller, who caught Batch's 7-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter that tied the game 20-20. "He did a great job managing the game, keeping us together as an offense and making positive plays. He deserves a lot of credit." Batch turns 38 years old Wednesday and it has been assumed this would be his last season. He had been third-string all season behind No. 2 Byron Leftwich and did not suit up for a game in 2011 until Nov. 18 against Baltimore at Heinz Field, after Roethli...

The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Baltimore Ravens 23-20 Sunday to move their record 7-5 on the season. Below are the players, or group of players, that I thought had winning and losing performances in the game. Charlie Batch - Batch provided the best 25-of-36 game of his career Sunday as he threw for 276 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Sure, he missed a wide open Mike...

Steelers hanging around behind resurgent Batch

The Pittsburgh Steelers probably won't win the AFC North. That doesn't mean they're ready to cede the spotlight just yet. The Steelers rallied to a 23-20 victory over the rival Baltimore Ravens on Sunday to snap a two-game losing streak and keep them in the thick of the AFC playoff picture. It's a victory few outside the locker room saw coming, one led by a bunch...

Charlie Batch Passes to End Zone Microphone Guy (Video)

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Charlie Batch was pretty accurate on Sunday completing 25/36 passes for 276 yards, but this was the one that got away.  His great white buffalo you might say.  Mike Wallace somehow found himself wide open in the end zone, but Batch over threw him by a mile and hit the End Zone guys microphone and broke off the center piece.  Haha, good stuff Charlie.  It...

Steelers can afford to sit Roethlisberger for the time being

In Mike Tomlin’s weekly Tuesday press conference he confirmed that Charlie Batch is the starter and they are preparing for the Chargers with that mentality. Ben Roethlisberger threw what Tomlin described as  ”successfully” on Monday and they will continue to evaluate his progress during practice this week and see what happens. While he didn’t officially give a status for...

Steelers: Roethlisberger Should be Back on the Field Sunday

Early indications out of Pittsburgh are that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will be back on the field this week against the San Diego Chargers. Roethlisberger was a full participant today in practice and Coach Mike Tomlin said he made “all the throws.” The only question now is to wait and see how his body responds tomorrow. Charlie Batch is coming off of what is being called...

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger “has a chance” to play against the Chargers in Week 14. Roethlisberger has been reportedly cleared by doctors, so it’s really a matter of whether or not Ben is able to show the coaching staff that’s capable of playing close to his previous level. Charlie Batch stepped in and surprisingly came away...

Ben Roethlisberger To Start Sunday?

Roethlisberger chose not to pratice, here we go with the drama again

Here we go again with the Ben Roethlisberger injury drama. Honestly, what more does the man have to do as the leader of the Pittsburgh Steelers offense and a leader on the Steelers team in general, for fans and media to stop hounding him every time he makes a controversial decision. It’s what Ben does, so what, can’t we get past this by now? Ok, what was I thinking, the media...

Ravens head to the locker room with the lead

On their final drive of the half, the Steelers got within seven points of the Ravens, but it could have been worse. On an offsides penalty by Haloti Ngata, quarterback Charlie Batch threw the ball to Mike Wallace. However, Wallace dropped the ball. Later that drive, Wallace was wide open, but Batch overthrew his receiver. Pittsburgh settled for a field goal and the Ravens have a...

The Steelers, led by Jonathan Dwyer and Charlie Batch on their first drive, have taken a 3-0 lead on the Ravens. Dwyer ran through the Ravens’ defense to help get Shaun Suisham in field goal range. Who Is This ‘Kanas State’ That ESPN Speaks Of?

I guess Kanas State must’ve had a helluva year to get to the Fiesta Bowl. We’d never heard of that school until ESPN’s BCS selection show. Is this a fail that’ll get an intern fired? Probably not, since so few people even care about Kansas State and Calvin Klein. Remember what we said on Friday about Northern Illinois and the MAC? The conference went about its business,...
