Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall looked sharp from the start, and the Chicago Bears beat Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins 33-31 in a preseason game on Saturday night.
In their first appearance together for the Bears (tied for 11th in the AP Pro32), Cutler and Marshall picked up where they left off when they starred together with the Denver Broncos. They connected on a 41-yard pass on Chicago's first play from scrimmage to set up the first of two first-quarter touchdown runs by Michael Bush, and the defense contained Griffin.
Making matters worse for the Redskins (No. 25), they lost Pro Bowl linebacker Brian Orakpo (shoulder) and safety Brandon Meriweather (knee) to injuries late in the first quarter. But for the Bears, it was a promising night even if they couldn't protect the lead.
They racked up 262 yards in the first half, after managing just 41 through the first two quarters in a preseason-opening loss to Denver.

In the Bears division alone, the Packers and Lions have evolved into teams with very potent passing attacks. Mike Shanahan is about to get a close look at past and present proteges.
With Jay Cutler and the Chicago Bears hosting Robert Griffin III and the Washington Redskins in a preseason game on Saturday, it figured that the two quarterbacks would be a topic of conversation this week.
Cutler played for Shanahan and Griffin is starting his first season under the veteran coach.
It was a great start and a great finish for the Chicago Bears as they won their first preseason game of 2012 thanks to a 57-yard field goal from Robbie Gould. That’s the most excited I’ll get about the fact that they won. Because as you all should know by now, WINNING IN THE PRESEASON DOESN’T MATTER IN THE SLIGHTEST. That being said, there are some positives to discuss coming...

The Washington Redskins are a floundering organization with a hungry, desperate fanbase, placing all their hopes in the arms and legs of the RG-III propaganda machine. The Chicago Bears, however, are a budding juggernaut, an army with all its tanks in a row, anxiously awaiting a declaration of war on the rest of the National Football League.
With General Jay Cutler back at the...
