Defensive tackle Brian Price was acquired by the Bears, who sent an undisclosed 2013 draft pick to Tampa Bay.

Price was a second-round pick out of UCLA in 2010, and started 14 of the 20 games he has appeared in. However, Price has also struggled with leg injuries and was involved in a fight with Bucs rookie safety Mark Barron in a team meeting room in June.

Price is coming off a strong 2011 season in which he had 24 tackles and three sacks while starting 14 of 14 games for Tampa Bay. He will compete for significant snaps in the middle of the Bears' defensive line along with second-year player Stephen Paea, Henry Melton and Israel Idonije.

The Bears also have Matt Toeaina, John McCargo, Jordan Miller, DeMario Pressley, Nate Collins and Ronnie Cameron on the roster.

Melton flashed some pass-rush potential at the 3 technique, but he needs to show up on a more consistent basis. Paea contributed as part of the rotation inside as a rookie last season, even though he was hindered by a balky knee injury. He is expected to take a big step this season and become a starter.

For now, Toeaina is a better run stuffer, although he's limited as an athlete. McCargo is expected to contribute in the rotation at both tackle spots.
