The Chicago Bears passing game struggled last season for the second consecutive year. This may be the last opportunity for Jay Cutler to prove himself, so the Bears have tossed him a bone by signing Roy Williams. Williams was last seen as a disappointing piece of the Dallas Cowboy’s fractured puzzle last season, and his production hasn’t exceeded mediocrity since his third season in the league, way back in 2006.
It’s up to Mike Martz to work some of that “greatest show on turf” magic. Williams fits the Martz brand of Bears offense better than Greg Olsen did, hence the revolving door entry and exit of those two players. Maybe this is the move that revives his career and proves Martz still has some tricks up his sleeve. But bottom line, it’s going to be difficult for Williams to build rapport with Cutler before the season starts.
