When the 2012 season kicked off, long-snapper Patrick Mannelly became the longest-tenured player in Chicago Bears history. He has now been with the team for 15 seasons, and General Manager Phil Emery decided today that he'd like to see Pat around for a little while longer.
The team announced today that Mannelly has been given a one-year contract extension, which will keep him in the Navy and Orange through the 2013 season.
The 37 year old Mannelly has shown no signs of slowing down this season, often being involved in tackles on punt coverage. Special Teams coach Dave Toub has had a few hiccups this season, but Mannelly is a guy that he knows will show up game after game and perform at the highest of levels.

Bears WR Devin Hester's Time in Chicago is Up
Perhaps no player personifies the Lovie Smith era in Chicago more than Bears wide receiver and kick returner Devin Hester. Hester has been brilliant at times, the best return man in the NFL. Hester may go down as the best of all-time, but as a wide receiver he's been an abject failure.
Hester's days as a player in Chicago are numbered, regardless of what his contract...

Now the question becomes where are the Bears going to find that safety...

Chicago Bears cut ex-Buckeye Dane Sanzenbacher
The Chicago Bears have decided to part ways with their homeless man’s version of Wes Welker, a guy known for wearing bolo ties while in college at Ohio State.

Jay Cutler Backs The Job Of Bears Offensive Coordinator Mike Tice
Only four teams in the NFL -- the Chargers, the Jets, the Jaguars and the Cardinals -- are averaging fewer yards per game than the beleaguered Bears offense. Those teams are a combined 22 games under .500.
But the last thing Bears quarterback Jay Cutler wants to see is yet another change at the top. He's hard three offensive coordinators in four years (Ron Turner, Mike Martz...

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger?
Challenge….accepted.
Chicago Bears future Hall of Fame Inside Linebacker Brian Urlacher re-iterated something the other day which has piqued my interest for a couple of months now. Half of his sentiment drew staunch criticism from all sources but the other half, at least to some extent, rings true. Last weekend, the previously 7-1 Bears slipped to 8-6, having lost 5 of the last...
