The Chicago Bears may have an interest in free agent quarterback David Garrard.
If signed, he would be a back up to starting quarterback Jay Cutler, who has gotten hurt late in the season the past two years. The Bears do not have to wait until March 13, the beginning of free agency, to sign Garrard.
He was released last year, and did not sign with another team. Thus, he is eligible to sign with any team immediately.
New Bears offensive coordinator Mike Tice was on the Jacksonvlle Jaguars staff when Garrard started in the league in 2002. The Bears have not had a serviceable backup in a very long time.
