As the offseason continues, the NFL annual meetings are well underway. Chicago Bears head coach, Matt Eberflus, spoke with Tom Pelissero of NFL Network about possibly selecting Caleb Williams in the 2024 draft. He also mentioned the trade of Justin Fields and the future of the Bears' franchise.

Most importantly, Eberflus stated he will keep his beard for the 2024 NFL season. He cited that his daughters and wife like it, so it will stay. As all Chicago fans know, facial hair equals success!

Matt Eberflus on USC Quarterback Caleb Williams

Bears head coach Matt Eberflus briefly spoke with Tom Pelissero and after breaking the ice with the almighty facial hair question, they discussed USC quarterback Caleb Williams. Pelissero asked, "How locked in are the Chicago Bears right now on what you're going to do, and can we cut through everything else and just say it's Caleb Williams?"

Eberflus replied:

Pelissero continued to ask about the USC star and what it was like for the Bears' brass attending the Pro Day. "What have your interactions been like with him and if he is in fact the pick, how all in do you feel he is on being a Bear?"

Eberflus replied:

The Chicago Bears are certainly the talk around the NFL again this offseason. They've made multiple roster moves that show fans they're serious about getting better. Eberflus talked about newly acquired wide receiver, Keenan Allen, and how he's a difficult cover from a defensive perspective.

Pelissero also asked Eberflus about the future of the Bears and how they feel going into the 2024 season. Eberflus described the past two years in Chicago and how they've built a foundation over that time. The front office is excited with the players they've brought in so far and looks forward to the NFL draft and adding talent to the roster.

Eberflus On The Bears Trading Justin Fields

After discussing the future of the Chicago Bears, Pelissero asked about Justin Fields and what the conversation was like when informing him of the trade.

Eberflus said it was tough and that he and Ryan Poles did it together. Fields went to a good situation in Pittsburgh and the Bears did right by him.

With the NFL draft 30 days away, the Chicago Bears are still in control of the offseason narrative. As they prepare to take their franchise quarterback with the first overall pick, the feeling of improvement is palpable and the Bears may be a surprisingly successful team in 2024.
