San Diego Chargers
Chicago Bears Pro Bowl defensive end Julius Peppers sat out his second straight preseason game because of a hamstring injury.
Peppers was expected to play Thursday night against the San Diego Chargers, but the Bears held him out again after he sat out the preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers. Peppers has been practicing off and on for about two weeks because of the problem.
The Bears also held out defensive tackle Henry Melton (concussion), receiver Earl Bennett (concussion), right tackle Jonathan Scott (right knee), long snapper Patrick Mannelly (rib), running back Armando Allen (hamstring) and linebacker D.J. Williams (strained right calf) as expected.
The Chargers held out running back Danny Woodhead (undisclosed injury), receiver Malcolm Floyd (right knee) and rookie linebacker Manti Te'o (sprained right foot).

The Chicago Bears are only playing in their second preseason game of the 2013 season but quarterback Jay Cutler is in mid-season grumpy form. Cutler was filmed during ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown show yelling at a ball boy to “give me the f*cking ball.” Cutler than shakes his head in disapproval. Cutler is under a lot of pressure this year as he enters into the final year...
Someone needs to find this ball boy and give him a hug. During Thursday’s preseason game between the Bears and Chargers, Jay Cutler acted as Jay Cutler was, but this time it wasn’t directed at one of his own offensive lineman. Instead it was directed at a ball boy who was a little behind on his duties, or so thought Cutty. Seems like Jay needs to also watch his language on...
It is going to be weird this season watching the Chicago Bears play without Brian Urlacher in the game, but if you can make any sort of judgement based off of preseason play they might have his replacement in rookie Jonathan Bostic.
The former Florida Gator certainly gave Bears fans reason to take notice of him and forget that other guy when he put this hit on San Diego's...
People in Chicago take the Chicago Bears quite seriously. Many businesses try really hard to leech off of the team’s popularity and also bask in their reflected glory.
We all hate spam. Hate it. Especially when it comes from a list we never signed up for in the first place. I received an email with “CHICAGO FOOTBALL IS BACK” in my inbox. It was in ALL CAPS to denote that...
Watching the Bears in Week One of the preseason against Carolina and then watching them on Thursday night against San Diego was a completely different experience.
A 33-28 win definitely felt different, but that wasn’t the only reason.
The Bears’ first-team defense forced two turnovers and racked up three sacks which translated into seven points.
The first-team offense looked...
The Chicago Bears “beat” the San Diego Chargers 33-28 in the second preseason game on Thursday, but somehow I doubt either team cares much about the final score. Much more important to the Bears was that they avoided any major injuries, although third string quarterback Matt Blanchard did leave the game with a fractured knuckle […]The post Chicago Bears show improvement and...

QB Jay Cutler (Chicago)
In 3 years with the Broncos, Jay Cutler completed 62.5% of his passes for an average of 7.4 YPA, 54 touchdowns, and 37 interceptions, a quarterback rating of 87.1. However, going to the Bears stunted his statistical growth, as he’s completed 59.6% of his passes for an average of 7.1 YPA, 82 touchdowns, and 63 interceptions, a quarterback rating of 81.8....
The Chicago Bears face off against the San Diego Chargers in week two of the NFL's preseason out on the lakefront. While there were a lot of other things that happened in the week one game, apparently the only match up that matters for Bears fans this week is on the offensive line. J'Marcus Webb was benched and/or moved to the second team left tackle spot as planned...
On Thursday night, the Chicago Bears will continue their 2013 preseason as they host the San Diego Chargers in their home opener at Soldier Field. Unfortunately, the second preseason game is usually one of the dullest. Starters still don’t play much (Chicago’s starters are expected to play about a quarter), roster cuts are not yet […]The post Chicago Bears Host San Diego...
