While the Chicago Bears haven’t come out with their injury report
for the week yet, ESPN’s John Clayton said on air last night that it appears “doubtful”
quarterback Jay Cutler will play Monday night when the team takes on the San
Cutler was one of several quarterbacks to suffer a
concussion last weekend. One of the others was 49ers quarterback Alex Smith,
who is also questionable to play Monday.
Cutler has sustained multiple concussions dating back to his
college days at Vanderbilt, so the Bears are expected to take things slowly
when it comes to getting him back on the field. Clayton’s comments would lead
one to believe Chicago may decide to hold the QB out this week in hopes of
avoiding a more significant absence.
If Cutler doesn’t suit up this weekend the Bears would go
with veteran backup Jason Campbell.
