New coach Marc Trestman should upgrade the Chicago Bears passing attack as a proven NFL offensive mind. The big question is how he will get along with veteran quarterback Jay Cutler, who has burned some bridges with coaches in the past. His rough relationship with former OC Mike Tice was put on public display in 2012 and the team could be tiring of his attitude. As proof, the Bears have chosen to let Cutler play out the 2013 season before exploring re-signing him. The Addition of tight end Martellus Bennett adds some much needed athleticism to the position as well as flexibility. On defense, long time Chicago favorite Brian Urlacher retired and the defense is moving in a different direction. In his place is D.J. Williams, who is loaded with talent and trying to overcome some off the field isues to fill the void left by Urlacher. According to Michael David Smith of Profootballtalk.com, the new moves weren’t enough to creep into the top sixteen Smith writes: 'After falling just short of the playoffs last season, the Bears said goodbye to head coach Lovie Smith and hello to Marc Trestman. Is that a change that can put them over the top? Not according to our PFT preseason power rankings, where we have the Bears slipping down to the No. 18 team in the NFL, outside playoff territory. The Bears still have a good defense and special teams, but we remain unconvinced about their offense, which Trestman was hired to reinvigorate.' PFT Chicago Bears Ranking No. 18
