Chicago Bears guard Lance Louis will miss the remainder of the season because of a knee injury, a big blow to a struggling offensive line. The team placed him on injured reserve on Monday, a day after he was hurt in the 28-10 victory over Minnesota. Louis was injured early in the third quarter on what Bears coach Lovie Smith says was an unnecessary hit by the Vikings' Jared Allen. It happened after Chicago's Brandon Marshall tipped a pass from Jay Cutler. The Vikings' Antoine Winfield picked it off, and as he returned the interception, Allen launched himself at Louis for a blindside hit to the head. His left leg buckled as he crashed to the ground.

Bears Injury Report: Lance Louis Placed on IR

Lance Louis done for the season

The Chicago Bears have placed offensive lineman Lance Louis on injured reserve with a knee injury suffered yesterday against the Minnesota Vikings.

Vikings DE Jared Allen destroys Bears G Lance Louis (GIF)

These are the types of hits that the NFL is trying to get removed from the game.  Louis had no idea that Allen was there and Allen launched himself at Louis, trying to blow him up.  Leaving his feet for this block is not only unnecessary but extremely dirty.  Had Allen not left his feet, I would be okay with this hit, but the fact that he targets Louis’ head is a huge problem...

Bears put Louis on IR with knee injury

The Chicago Bears will be without starting right guard Lance Louis for the rest of the season because of a left knee injury. And for that, they are not happy with Minnesota's Jared Allen. The Bears placed Louis on injured reserve Monday, a day after he was hurt in a win over Minnesota. That happened on a hit by Allen that clearly didn't sit well with Chicago coach Lovie...

Bears O-Line Injuries Leave Team Thin Along the Interior, But An Opportunity Arises

In the last two weeks the Chicago Bears have lost three starters at the offensive guard position.  Chilo Rachal was demoted, quit the team, and subsequently returned only to be placed on the non-football injury reserve list.   From there Chris Spencer and Lance Louis were injured in the game against the Minnesota Vikings, with Louis going down for the season with a knee injury...
