The Chicago Bears have added another player on defense. Linebacker Matt Adams will join Matt Eberflus’ defense.
We have signed Matt Adams to a one-year contract.
Welcome to the Windy City, @all_in_adams!

Matt Adams is very familiar with Eberflus. All four years of Adams’ career so far were spent with the Colts. In addition to Adams, Bears offseason signee Al-Quadin Muhammad also spent his full NFL career under Eberflus. Adams was a standout on special teams and was a student of Eberflus’ defense. The Bears should expect him to fill the same sort of role. He played in 58 games with nine starts, which all came in his first two seasons. He has totaled 55 tackles and six tackles for a loss.
It is clear that Roquan Smith and likely Nicolas Morrow will be the starters at linebacker. Matt Adams will have competition as a depth linebacker with newcomers Joe Thomas and Noah Dawkins. It will be an interesting battle to watch in training camp.
Ryan Poles had some thoughts on the signing. He said they love the style that Adams plays with on the field and they are looking forward to also seeing him compete on special teams.
