According to Brad Briggs of the Chicago Tribune, due to NFL rules that prohibit Chicago Bears’ 1st round draft pick Kyle Long from organized team activities that start Monday and the mandatory veteran minicamp in June.
Long’s class schedule at Oregon, where he played in the fall, and NFL rules indicate that draft picks cannot participate only in the rookie minicamp until his school has completed final exams.
This rule has made a huge difference for some rookies in the past, losing a month could cost a player an entire season if they can’t catch up. Briggs writes:
‘Oregon uses a quarter system and final exams run through June 14. Like most teams, the Bears are holding their veteran minicamp June 11-13. In total, the guard will miss 13 practices — 10 OTA sessions and three days of minicamp.’

Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte deserved to treat himself to something nice for having to put up with quarterback Jay Cutler on a regular basis. Forte’s disdain for Mr. Cavallari (I may or may not be making that up) forced him to buy a house that’s roughly a 45 minute drive to Soldier Field. Of course, in Chicago’s traffic, that might means he’s...
2.18 Chicago Bears Jonathan Bostic, ILB, Florida (6-0⅞, 245)
With the eighteenth selection (50th overall) in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears select inside linebacker Jonathan Bostic from the University of Florida. The Bears needed to replace the future hall of famer Brian Urlacher in the middle of the defense and Bostic will have the momentous task of...
Former Broncos general manager Ted Sundquist believes the market for free agent linebacker Brian Urlacher will begin to pick up in June. He believes this because teams will start cutting more veterans after Junes 1st.
When a player with multiple years remaining on his contract is released after June 1, only the prorated bonus money for that upcoming season counts against that year’s...

According to the Orlando Sentinel, a house that was linked to the shooting of a 15 year-old girl is owned by NFL player’s Mike Sims-Walker, Brandon Marshall and Chris Johnson.
Sims-Walker helped aid the police in their investigation, per the Sentinel.
Prosecutors have described the home on Robbins Avenue as a nondescript setting where pro athletes could...
The Chicago Bears and new head coach Marc Trestman get their first “live” look at the team’s 2013 rookie class this weekend at mini-camp. As the draft choices and invited first-year players convene at Halas Hall, here are five questions that will start to be addressed: 1. Is top pick Kyle Long ready to challenge for a starting job? Long [...]
According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the Chicago Bears have signed second round pick, linebacker Jon Bostic. Bostic recorded 68 total tackles, 3 sacks, and 2 interceptions in his final season at the University of Florida. Need NFL Tickets?
We are in that long, dull time of the offseason when the draft is over, free agency has (mostly) ended, and football is still too far away. What is a die-hard NFL fan to do? I’m so glad you asked! Borrowing from WCSN’s own Michael Helton, I thought it would be fun to stir some [...]The post Top ten Chicago Bears draft picks since 1995: Part 1 by Jon Vander Woude appeared...
I graded the new and improved coaching staff for the Chicago Bears pretty highly in part one of my off-season recap. Do the additions the team made in free agency match up?
Part 1: Coaching Staff
While free agency technically isn’t over, the Bears have already made all of their major moves. Those moves were nearly perfect in my book.
First Round: Kyle Long, OT/G, Oregon
Another pick I'm shocked at. I think Long is better than Pugh, but still don't think he should be a first round selection. I'm shocked the Bears passed on Eiffert and Ogletree, who are much better players and better values. Long will most likely be put at guard for Chicago, with Bushrod and Webb on the ends. However, he will...
The Chicago Bears have agreed to a four-year contract with second-round draft pick Jon Bostic.
A linebacker at Florida, Bostic started every game his final two years in the middle for the Gators and figures to compete with veteran free agent acquisition D.J. Williams for Brian Urlacher's old job.
Bostic made eight sacks, 19 1/2 tackles for loss and five interceptions in his...
Bears fifth-round offensive lineman Jordan Mills isn’t phased by this next step in his career. Yet whether or not he can turn that confidence into production on the field remains to be seen?
The Chicago Bears have agreed to terms on a four-year contract with second-round linebacker Jon Bostic. The team has now signed five of its six 2013 draft picks.
You might have read the title and was shocked, but you really shouldn’t be. If you have any knowledge of the 90′s Cowboys you should be aware that athletes have “side house” for their groupies, jumpoffs and mistresses. It is a place they can have their affairs and not worried about being hassle by their wives or girlfriends.
Normally, a group of players rent out a place under...
When a new head coach takes over a tradition-rich program with a tradition-rich rival, things can get interesting. For example, former Chicago Bears coach Lovie Smith. In Smith’s first press conference, he told the media his number one goal was to beat the Green Bay Packers. It was the first shot fired in the next chapter of the NFL’s longest-running rivalry.
