Chicago Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher says his left knee will never be the same, but it won’t stop him from playing Sunday in the season opener against the Indianapolis Colts. “I’m playing Sunday. That’s a done deal,” Urlacher told WFLD-TV in Chicago. Urlacher, 34, has endured multiple surgeries on the knee, forcing him to miss all of the team’s offseason program on the practice field and the majority of training camp. His latest surgery came Aug. 14 when he underwent an arthroscopic procedure to clean up damage in the knee caused by a sprained medial collateral and posterior cruciate ligament that occurred in the final game of the 2011 regular season. The veteran said he hadn’t experienced any complications during his rehab leading up to the opener. The Bears return to the practice field Monday and Urlacher was expected to test the knee. “(The left knee) feels much better now,” Urlacher said. “I have been running around quite a bit, not with the team in practice,...

Jay Cutler: No matter his performance, still an inspiration as a diabetic

Life is like a roller coaster, experiencing the ups and downs until eventually you get off the ride, but for quarterback Jay Cutler of the Chicago Bears his roller coaster has loops and corkscrews. Coming off a broken thumb that ended his season early in 2012, Jay Cutler must again put the naysayers to rest. [...]

Brian Urlacher Says He Is Playing Sunday, Despite Knee Injury

I will believe it when I see it. Urlacher knees have been traveling to Odenville a lot, so I would be a little surprised to see him on field. Chicago Bears middle linebacker Brian Urlacher expects to start Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts, despite reportedly having undergone multiple procedures on his left knee that forced [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Bears sign DT Okoye, release DT Price

The Bears signed veteran defensive tackle Amobi Okoye and released defensive tackle Brian Price. Okoye, a first-round pick of the Texans who spent four years in Houston, played for the Bears in 2011. He signed with the Buccaneers in free agency but was released with an injury settlement on Friday. The Bears don't believe his nagging knee injury will be an issue. Chicago dealt...

Expect Opponents To Attack Brian Urlacher All Season Long

Bears MLB Brian Urlacher is playing in the team's home opener against rookie QB Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts. He made that very clear during training camp. He returns to practice today and will likely be limited all week considering the Bears would like to keep him as fresh as possible. Urlacher is clearly an integral part of the Bears defense, so for him to be out...

Former Bucs player questions Schiano's comments

Defensive tackle Amobi Okoye lashed out at Tampa Bay coach Greg Schiano after the free agent’s signing was announced Monday by the Chicago Bears. Okoye took exception to Schiano saying Okoye, a six-year veteran, wasn’t progressing after arthroscopic knee surgery in June, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. Okoye wasn’t able to practice or play much during preseason. The Buccaneers...

The Chicago Bears Will Look to Test Their New Toys Through the Air Vs. Indianapolis

Expectations are as high as they’ve ever been in Chicago as we inch closer to Sunday. The Bears will open up against the Indianapolis Colts in a very winnable game, but one they shouldn’t overlook with a Week 2 trip to Green Bay on the back of their minds.   One reason expectations are through the roof is Chicago’s new receiving corps. Chicago has been known as a ground...

Okoye in, Price out at Bears DT spot

The Chicago Bears brought back another familiar face when they re-signed defensive tackle Amobi Okoye Monday. To make room on the 53 man roster, the Bears parted ways with defensive tackle Brian Price, whom they had acquired during training camp from Tampa Bay for a 2013 seventh round pick. Okoye  started 59 of 78 games played in five seasons with [...]

Bears release DT Price

One month after the Chicago Bears traded for defensive tackle Brian Price, the team waived him Monday. Price, obtained from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in July for a 2013 seventh-round draft pick, failed to make an impression in preseason. The former second-round draft pick battled injuries and also endured his sister passing away during the offseason. The move cleared a roster...

Okoye's Return Will Strengthen Defensive Tackle Rotation

One of the biggest losses from the off-season for the Bears was when Amobi Okoye opted to leave Chicago via free agency for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Okoye's stint was short lived in Tampa following a knee scope that never allowed him to get on the field during the preseason.  First year Bucs coach, Greg Schiano, was not happy with Okoye's inability to get on the field...
