Brad Biggs reports that the Bears will release FB Evan Rodriguez on Monday.
This comes shortly after reports indicated that Chicago had signed FB Tony Fiammetta to a contract.
Rodriguez, 24, was a fourth-round pick in the 2012 NFL draft, but he has been arrested twice this offseason, so it’s not all that surprising that they would choose to move on without him.
Bears GM Phil Emery mentioned that he was ”extremely” disappointed following his recent DUI arrest.
As for Fiammetta, he spent all of 2012 on the Patriots’ reserve/left squad list after he suffered was believed to be a concussion. Fiammetta, 26, has been pretty productive in the past, so this could end up being a quality move for the Bears.
