The Penalty Flag:
Ashburn, Va- Well things didn’t go quite according to plan for the Washington Redskins against the one win Carolina Panthers and their rookie QB. The Redskins blew almost every opportunity including the one’s the Panthers gift wrapped for them. Recently inserted QB John Beck waited three years and ten months to get his first start since playing for Miami back in December of 2007. Beck looked good on his first drive hooking up Santana Moss twice, only to have the drive end on a fumble. The opening drive ended at the Panthers’ 45 with the Redskins facing a long 3rd-and-15. John Beck dropped back to pass but not before he was sacked by DE Antwan Applewhite, popping the ball loose while LB Terrell McClain recovered the fumble for the Panthers. Moss would end up leaving the game with a fractured left hand and is expected to be out 3-4 weeks. Beck continued to battle using the supporting cast around him like TE Fred Davis catching six balls for 88 yards and a TD, Jabar Gaffney catchi...

(By Joseph Person, firstname.lastname@example.org) When Redskins quarterback John Beck scrambled into the end zone for a 4-yard touchdown in the third quarter of the Panthers' 33-20 win on Sunday, a cheer went up from several burgundy-hued sections of Bank of America Stadium. The reaction did not go unnoticed by those on the home sideline.
ANALYSIS/OPINION The Washington Redskins had it rubbed in their faces Sunday. Anything their quarterback could do, the Carolina Panthers' rookie QB could do better. John Beck can complete 59.5 percent of his passes? Cam Newton can complete 78.3. Beck can run 4 yards for a touchdown? Newton can run 16. ...
As the media quickly learned on Sunday, Redskins coach Mike Shanahan has had enough of the quarterback controversy.
Talk about being late to the party.
After being asked who would start next week during the post-game press conference, the Redskins coach got mad and refused to answer the question.
Now, with Rex Grossman reportedly suffering from pneumonia and John Beck the current...
The Washington Redskins carry only two quarterbacks on the 53-man roster, and on Sunday with Rex Grossman sick with pneumonia, Mike Shanahan didn't have a backup passer on the sidelines.
Grossman, who had a fever of 103, watched the game on television in the locker room while hooked up to an IV, but would have emerged and taken the field had John Beck gotten hurt.
