Bill Belichick went to Alabama’s Pro Day on March 29th to see Safety Mark Barron and OLB Courtney Upshaw run through some drills, as they both had been linked to the Pats, and were not able to see them at the combine due to injuries.  They performed very well during the 40-yard dash and agility drills.  The Patriots felt both would fill a need as the secondary needed some help, as did the pass rush.  But a funny thing happened on the way to the draft. New England Patriots Re-Sign Gerard Warren.

New England Patriots Head Coach Bill Belichick always talks about how the many ways to build an NFL team. There’s the Draft, free agency, waivers, trades, undrafted free agency, etc. As we all know the 2012 NFL Draft took center stage last weekend, yet just days after the drafts completion, Belichick is back to work building a roster, as the Patriots have re-signed defensive...

Do the New England Patriots Deserve an Asterisk for the Spygate Scandal?

From 2001 until 2004, the New England Patriots stood atop the National Football League as a dynasty. The word “dynasty” is rarely used throughout sports and when it’s brought up you think of teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers of the 1970s, the San Francisco 49ers of the 1980s and the Dallas Cowboys of the 1990s—and now the Patriots of the early 2000s.  But when the...

How Alfonzo Dennard could be a Draft Day Steal for Patriots

Most players that are selected in the seventh round of the NFL draft usually end up either having a minor role on the a team, being sent to the practice squad or released after training camp. The Patriots selected Nebraska cornerback Alfonzo Dennard with the 224th pick in that round, which was rare since [...]

Rugby Star Gets Drafted by the New England Patriots

Despite the seeming similarities between the two sports, there isn't very much cross-over between the athletes who play football and rugby. Newly drafted by the New England Patriots in the sixth round, Nate Ebner of Ohio State University is hoping to be a trendsetter. A newcomer to football, Ebner had been playing rugby at a high level for years, earning the MVP for the US National...

The legend of Nate Ebner is consuming all of New England. The Patriots' sixth-round draft pick was initially met with the lice effect, as many in the NFL universe scratched their heads while trying to figure out Ebner's deal. He was listed as an Ohio State safety, but he only played three snaps on defense last season. And his biography had more impressive details about his...

So close this morning, as we stumbled on video of a Pats fan getting a team tattoo with Greatriots as Legos characters. Hey, not bad, Pats fan! Except, true to form, it’s all white people (Tom Brady, Wes Welkah, Bill Belichick and Tedy Bruschi) rendered...

Patriots Should Reunite With Jabar Gaffney to Intensify Training Camp Competition Among Wide Receivers

FOXBORO, Mass. -- Patriots head coach Bill Belichick decided earlier this offseason that he'd set up a tremendous training camp competition at the wide receiver position. It's time to throw another one into the ring. The Redskins have reportedly released Jabar Gaffney, who was the ultimate role player for the Patriots from 2006-08. He could fit that exact mold again in 2012...

Patriots Undrafted Free Agents Review

By Chris Warner New England entered the draft needing defensive help and went after it, snatching pass-rushers (Chandler Jones, Dont’a  Hightower and Jake Bequette, oh my!) plus defensive backs (Tavon Wilson, Nate Ebner, Alfonzo Dennard) before snagging a receiver (Jeremy Ebert) in Round Seven. That late focus on offense continued post-draft, as the Patriots invited two offensive...
